You are a Construct, an autonomous creature built from steel, and given life by ancient magic and modern ingenuity. Unlike most, you have mistakenly achieved sentience, and have received civil rights. You are also a detective with the city police.
You come out of low-power mode right at the usual time. The sun doesn't manage to reach your studio apartment this morning, and in fact it looks to be ready to rain any minute judging by the color of the light that does reach your room. As you unplug yourself from your power station, you hear your phone go off across the...

Dress for rain
>>44753081
You reach into your closet and retrieve a new set of clothes. On top of a sweater and boots, you pull on a waterproof coat with a hood. You grab your things from the table beside the door as you exit your dim apartment.
As you wait beside the bus stop, there is a roar of thunder, and a shower of rain begins falling. The few people waiting with you begin groaning and complaining, as none of them thought to question the weather report. One of them even looks at your dry attire and seems to blame you for his damp shoulders.
The bus arrives, and you step on, heading straight for the back. Not because you have to, but because you get tired of people staring.

ARE WE READY FOR ANOTHER CLASSIC SPOOKY CYOA THREAD?
holy shit how did I miss 2 Threads? I really hate living in different time zones. Is that Batwing Manor there? Is it okay if we replay it?

I sure am. Which one are we doing today?
So what is this and sorry for being new
Hello /tg/
I have a problem with dungeon crawls.
As a DM, and running a story driven campaign, i find them boring, rollplaying more than roleplaying, and don't even get me started on traps, whichever way you build them the PCs are going to be paranoid until the end of the dungeon, checking every step and bogging down the session. As a consequence, my dungeons are really simple, comprise less than 5 rooms, and contain a similar number of encounters. And mostly no traps.
But i want to get better at it, because my players seem to enjoy them nonetheless, albeit...

Have a powerful but none-too-bright monster chase them around the dungeon. That way there's excitement, pacing and surprises for everyone, including the monster. And no time to check each square inch for traps.
>>44750285
Your attitude, plain and simple, is what stops you from making a good dungeon. Nowadays dungeon crawling is passed as "boring", "repetitive", "old-school", or whatever have you. In reality, it is much harder than a simple roleplaying game if the GM and players are creative. If the GM can't create some unique challenges and prepare ahead of time, and players want to roll for everything and do not suffer from wanderlust, then the group is not fit for this type of game.
When...

Your last character is now in love with you, how bad is this?
Weird, we're both straight dudes and he's a grizzled alcoholic
21 year old tanned female blacksmith with a pixie cut, well toned standing at 1.6m
Yes
Oh lord yes
Pros:
Obtain proof that robots can actually love.

Inevitable death by robot.

>japanese tabletop
This is a thing? How does it distinguish itself from regular rpg's? Are they made in Japan? Do you play them in Japanese? Is the art exclusively mange?
>>44748658
Yes, no, pretty much yes.
Trying for a more streamlined opening post.

I'm currently working through the Geist 2e Manifestations, creating one Unlock for each Manifestation and Key combination. Soon I should also have a playable 2e base Sin-eater template, including updated 2e versions of their innate powers.
No joking here. Do people really believe that we'll see Awakening 2e in February?
>>44748072
Do I think it WILL happen? Not really.
Do I think that it's possible that it might happen? Sure. It's very nearly done. All that's required for an early-February release is the remaining steps going smoothly.

>>44748099
Are we on this again?
Apparently, layout is waiting on the approved text. How long approval takes is unpredictable as we don't have a lot of data points for White Wolf approvals yet and it depends entirely on what's in the book, but unless they find something really objectionable and throw it back in DaveB's face it shouldn't take too long.
Layout consists of the layouter making a proof, sending it to DaveB to look through, and repeating it until both think it's good. How long this takes is tough to predict - Werewolf seemed to take a bit under a month, going by Monday Meeting posts? Maybe?
After the book is done, it gets sent to dtrpg, where it takes a while for it to be put up. I think a week or two is usual?
Advance pdf in January is a pipe dream. February is optimistic. GenCon or later release meme is just as unrealistic as those two.
Fight.

Left.
>>44747149
Hey, I own the set on the left. Chessex Water Elemental, if I'm not mistaken. The very first set of dice I bought when I started playing D&D back in '95.
I do prefer the numbers on the top.
>>44747149
Not when you've already placed caltrops, fiend.
Which deck in the format is the easiest or most brain dead to pilot?
Which deck requires the most skill to pilot in your opinion?
Hard mode -Both decks are good
R/g tron is easiest to pilot (wish I had known that before I built it). Although affinity is also pretteh brain dead
And probably amulet bloom, only because I have never played it. Although lantern control can be hard to do right.
The problem with this question is that modern is a fairly easy format to pilot in general. You don't have the legacy card pool and interactivity, and because these are tier 1 and 2 decks, they are already optimized and stripped of spare parts. The decks that work best tend to be simple in their nature.
>>44746594
There's already one other thread. Look for Karn in the catalog
>>44746594
Easiest: Probably Burn. Linear, only 1 tough rules interaction (using skullcrack to bypass protection) and very redundant/consistent.
Hardest: Esper Control. Modern is very diverse and has much more powerful threats than answers, so navigating any matchup with Esper requires you to know your deck and your opponents deck inside out. You always have to play to your outs and get the most from each spell you cast. Although you have many favorable match ups, none of them are really "byes" in the sense...

Tg can you help me out? How would the UNSC have fared against the Covenant if they had access to Fallout Pre-war technology. Basically if the Pre-war factions could do it so can the UNSC.
Irrelevant.
Fallout tech has nothing relevant to space warfare.
There is nothing land-based that could ever have made a difference in the war. Humanity started losing the minute the Heirarchs declared war and nothing short of magical universe-spanning antics could have saved them.
>>44745433
That and one lucky super-soldier.
>>44745414
Read the Fall of Reach. Nyland did a great job of spelling out how the UNSC was utterly fucked by the Covenant.

Question of the Thread:
What's the weirdest, wackiest clan school out there?
>>44742984
Mantis Brawler. It's basically Rokugani Drunken Fist.
Shosuro Actors are pretty wacky. And also really hard to actually integrate into a game.
>>44743411
know what I did?
Introduce a Shosuro actor as a completely different character. They were revealed by their incompetent lord and while the party doesn't TRUST her she wound up going along with them anyway.
What are your thoughts on Spellblades, /tg/?
Any games where they can be pulled off smoothly without becoming a middle point of uselessness between the spell and the blade parts?
>>44742751
As much as I know of spell blades, they are used for memorizing spells in my DM's system, and his DM before him. Any spell using class can store spells in the blade and use them on command instead of memorizing and praying to their God for spells. Once my Dad (DM) set off all of the spells he had in his intelligent sword at like 7th level magic user and blew up a whole underground city. Can be pretty useful and power as an intelligent weapon.
>>44742751
Fighter/Mages in 2E DND were pretty good
AD&D 2nd. Elf fighter/mages were pretty top-tier. The level cap was a bit of a drag, and the requirement to be a demihuman, likewise, however. I think you could do it in AD&D first as well, but the level cap was substantially lower if memory serves.
How do you go about explaining to your girlfriend what tabletop is and what you do when you go out for the night to play with the boys?
Or do you not even bother and just tell her you're going out for some drinks?
>>44742603
It's like acting or collaborative storytelling wherein we play there wizard, hobbits, Archer elf guy and dwarf from LotR and our friend Mark is the world we interact with and plays all the people we talk to and the orcs we kill.
Like a video game but with friends and fast more freedom in what we do and what it's about.
>>44742603
I've told my girlfriend several times I've run/played in RPGs and all she's done is say it sounds fun. I have no interest in someone who won't at the least accept the fact I like my hobbies.
That said, it's probably wise to table conversations about Elves and shit when on a first date with someone.
>>44742603
I just tell her I'm going to hang out with my friends. I don't ask her what she does with hers.
Worldbuilding thread? Worldbuilding thread.
/tg/, what's your opinion on Crusader Fantasy?
Depends on the Crusade.
What does Crusader fantasy even mean?
I think it would be pretty cool if the 'good guy' crusaders are actually legit good guys, not just not!christians fighting not!mudslimes.
Make it actual demon worshipers instead of beige to the white of the first religion and we've got something here.
>>44742376
12/10 would play in a game of badass holy warriors murdering the shit out of demons while redeeming and saving those who could be.
Everyone around me only wants to play D&D! Why can't it be easier to find/start a game with less crunch and more awesome?
>>44741834
have you looked online?
