Saturday, July 16th Stage 14
Montélimar › Villars-les-Dombes Parc des Oiseaux (208.5k)

Since nobody started one I gave it a shot. Flat stage with several category 4 climbs, so most likely a sprint finish.

Poor guy, I hope he gets his head in order the next years and becomes a proper contender
>>
>>69569474

yeah how dare he attack so much why isnt he glued to the backwheel of his opponent that would be so much more exciting
>>
>>69569608
in his new contract he insisted to be allowed to ride the giro next year
>>
So how do we fix the Tour?

- Ban team radios, apart from safety messages. Make the riders correctly time their own tactical moves.

- Ban power meters. Make the riders attack when they feel good, not when the computer says they are optimal.

- Eight-man teams. Less riders means less risk of crashes (or it just means more teams) and it's harder to cram a team full of time-triallists who can climb well to support the team leader in an endless procession.

It's not Froome, or SKY. It's literally everyone else. They aren't even bothering. SKY are too strong, too well-funded and too single-minded to be beaten by teams that have a GC rider...and a sprinter...and also compete to win other GTs and one day races over the year.

SKY exist for a single purpose: to put a British rider on the top step of the podium. Anything else is for training purposes.

"drop" means they drop you off the back if you're too slow. "No-drop" doesn't necessarily mean the pace will be slow, but they will always have someone stay behind with a rider that's been dropped. i.e. you never ride alone.
>>

There's currently a 4-man breakaway in front of the main group, or, "peloton".

15mph over 40 miles is about average for a no-drop shop ride. It's not that slow, you'll work up a sweat.

It's not a team training ride pace, obviously, but it's not advertising itself as such.
>>
>>69569474
Quintana/Movistar being shit is what makes the tour 'boring'

Also, despite it being obvious Froome was going to win (how could you not with such a terrifying team as Sky?), this has not been a boring Tour at all.

>cav being good again

I don't see how anyone couldn't see this as a greatly entertaining Tour so far.

Vastly superior to 2015, where Froome just got yellow early and kept it because Quintana didn't 'attack' until stage 21.

Vastly superior to 2014 where everyone just died early so no one could contest Nibbles

Vastly superior to 2012 and 2013 where Sky was on a even higher level of utter rape compared to opposition

>>

The only thing that you listed that is related to anything remotely entertaining is Sagan.

Otherwise, you're listing memes that make /tdf/ fun.

This Tour has been shit.
Green jersey competition has been ceded to Sagan because Cav, Kittel and Greipel only care about stage wins.
Polka dot jersey is literally what tier/
Yellow jersey competition was over as soon as Froome decided to stop mucking about and take the jersey.

>Quintana not DSQ for holding onto a the mavic moto at the front of the field
>Froome was thrown out of a Giro (2008?) for doing the same thing when he was off the back

Skelly's ghostwritten book actually is pretty revealing on this fuck-ups like that, it was all a big misunderstanding about him trying to DNF and the moto actually offered a ride. the Quitana thing is a lot more clear cut, tho I suppose an officials' car was right there and they saw the whole thing.

Quintana said he was holding onto the moto because it had just hit him and he was holding it at arm's length.

There has been a crash in the back of the peloton.

well he wouldn't say anything self-incriminating, of course. some rider was DSQ either last year or 2014 for taking a short (<250m) ride in a team car while they were deciding on going home, they just forgot but rules are rules

Just like with VROOME. All that happened happened after the race was neutralized. So it didn't matter. Otherwise Vroome would have been penalized for running as well.

If Froome gets sick or fatigued, Quintana could take back some time.
But it would have to be a mammoth long range attack a la Pantani.

so running isn't nearly as bad as towing on a moto

the running is easily chalked up to panic, towing on a moto is clearly intentional
