This is what I'd try first.
Boils down to a 433 concept, displayed differently in FM. In general, at every not-cb position, you're going to be looking for high work rate, stamina, natural fitness, and agility, as well as decent passing and first touch since the ball will be moving a lot. Counter mentality will make your team move quickly in attack. Your two best players should be the Advanced playmaker and one of the front three.

The limited defender needs to be fast. That's it. The ball playing defender needs to be decent with the ball. One of them needs to be tall.
>Fullbacks
Could be moved up to WB R/L if that's what you have. Need to do a bit of everything, what they're best at depends on your wide members of the front three, I'll explain when I get to them. Being outside footed is best here (left footed on the left side, right footed on the right side).

Just needs to be solid defensively. A small cb retrained will work fine. Doesn't need to be great on the ball. The 'stays back at all times' ppm is good, this is the guy who will just sit in midfield for you.
>BWM
Stamina+++. Tackling is also important. He's just going to run down the ball wherever it may be.

Needs great passing, vision, team work for whatever league you're in. 'Tries killer balls' will be useful.

Only keep them on winger if your starters here are outside footed. If they're inside footed, change them to inside forward on attack, or a single Ramdeuter if they're any good at it.

Needs good off the ball/movement. He should be finishing most of your chances. If the opposition doesn't play with a DM, having him on Deep Lying could be useful, otherwise Complete>Poacher. Complete Forward is really only good on players by far and away better than your division, who are big, strong, and fast, can finish, dribble to create for themselves, and lay off to teammates.

Always narrow, always play out of defence and exploit flanks, always roam from positions. Usually tight marking, high defence and a good amount of pressing. Usually on control. Never ever did I see instructions for a deep defence waiting for the counter like Leicester or Italy. Does that even work? The engine seems to favour wingers/wing backs running to the byline and crossing late since the defenders and GK are consistently powerless against this, even if the receiving player is short and bad at headers.
