We're pretty lucky here for that stuff. You can get a decent used package for around £1500 and £100 odd for race entry with fuel and other stuff on top. Obviously you can spend many times more than that but you can have a great race with people even if you're not right at the top.
I have no idea what it's like where you are but here the 'professional' guys are more interested in the normal F1 ladder short circuit kart series than superkarts. If you haven't already find out if there's any races going on and talk to some guys on a practice day or after the races, in my experience they are always glad to help out people getting into it.

That corner was supposed to be taken flat out anyway.
Senna's car temporarily lost grip during the corner and oversteered, Senna then counter steered but the car immediately regained grip and then went off in the direction of the wall on the outside.
The steering column may have also contributed to the crash in some way.
