How did he perform for the national team cause I swear I can't remember him having a single outstanding tournament or even moment on the big stage.

Was he just a qualifying babby like Ibrahimovic?
>>
>>69396544
He won 1998 WC and almost won 2006 one too

Im talking about how he performed, not his accomplishments.

> WC '98
> Euro 00
> WC '02
> Euro '04
> Wc '06
> Euro '08

Was he a standout player in any of those tournaments?
>>
>>69396663

There was that awesome Zidane to Henry goal against Brazil in 2006
>>

>>
>>69396577
you can clearly see the Irish dude forcing him to use his hand
>>
>>69396544
he did the winning tap in against brazil in 2006
>>
never scored against italy in a tournament
>>
>>69396663
In 98 he scored 3 goals in the first 2 group games and was a late sub in the 3rd game. In the knockouts we only had closed games and he didn't score, except his PK against Italy. He didn't play in the final, I think he was about to be subbed in at some point but then Desailly got sent off.

In 2000 he scored in the first 2 group games, didn't play the 3rd, and he scored again against Portugal.

In 2006 he scored against Brazil.

He didn't really illuminate these tournaments but he did a solid job.
>>
Trezeguet or Anelka were better than him in nt
>>
the biggest opponents he scored against during tournaments were brazil and portugal

anelka is bad. only a fool would disagree.
>>
>>69397172

I hate Domenech and that negro thug equally, Footix.

I bet you're born after 2000, supported Lyon, then switched to PSG.

>Telefoot

I only read the CdFs.

fcking hate this niga
>>
>>69396946
Which proves that rating players on NT performances is useless
Anyway, I knew Trezeguet would miss that penalty in the final and I knew it would be in that top corner because he's missed similar penalties when he was at Juve
>>

>Im talking about how he performed

Context. It's not like he was the only attacker in the French squad. Wiltord, Trezeguet, Anelka, Djorkaeff, Dugarry, Cissé, Saha were all competing for the same spot during Henry's tenure.

He was particularly standing out in the Euro 2000 setup imo, when used in a trident of attack with anelka and trezeguet. He was playing almost right winger and would absolutely outrun anyone on his corridor, being delivered caviar through passes from Zidane and co. France played like this mostly during the group stage. It was one of the fastest attacking side France ever had, and it was pretty spectacular to see. So yeah he performed pretty well, and he won several major titles.

Scoring isn't performing. Trezeguet couldn't perform like Henry could, he wasn't fast enough to begin with. But he performed very well overall in the NT squad and scored a lot. The only one then who could keep up with Henry's pace was Anelka. If you played with another striker than Henry, it forced the coache's hand to change the attack setup, because Henry was so ridiculously fast. It would make little sense to put Cissé in the same setup.

Henry was a very reliable player for the french NT, consistently good, even though it is true he didn't scored much. Fun fact: Henry played 123 games for the NT and scored 51 goals. Only one goal was with a Zidane assist:

Messi is our NT historical top scorer and hasn't scored a single relevant goal yet
>>
>>69398785
Yeah he play less because of:

1 Fucking Domenech
2 Injuries
3 he left the NT two years before Henry

I hope Messi stays retired for the NT.
Fucking niggers can't appreciate anything.
>>
>>69396544
he was an eternal big game bottler
>>
In France '98 he was still too young and mostly a bit part player

He was one of the best players at Euro 2000

In 2002 the whole team was shit

In 2004 he was decent

He was good in 2006, made the TOTT

So while he was never the standout player at a tournament like Zidane or Ronaldo was, he was still pretty good.
>>
He was great in Euro 2000, and that was when he was also hitting his peak.

Greatest striker of all time imo.
>>
>>69400825
he's not wrong pedro
>>
>>69396544
He was amazing during the 2000 euro
In 2006 he scores the goal against Brazil and get the penalty against Poortugal.

>Trézéguet, France Italy, 2000
