baseball, specifically a closer or middle inning reliever. You can make like $4-$10m per year pitching 1 or 2 innings every 2nd or 3rd game. Lots of pressure, and if you dont perform you get sent down, but fuck, seems like a pretty sweet gig to me

Except it requires a motherfuckton of effort and studying to even get to the point of being statistically break even at poker. And even if you're the best in the world, playing perfect poker, you could still lose millions for a year straight (playing scare or lowering your aggression means you're going to be making mistakes and not making mathematically sound decisions, even if it helps curb your losses).

Although this is a rather extreme example, de to variance I could flip a coin and get heads 500 times in a row. Extremely unlikely, but it could happen, thats just probability. Downswings are extremely common in poker even if you aren't making mistakes. Like, I love the game, but you'd have to be sick in the head to want to do it professionally.

The problem with soccer is that the schedule lasts fucking forever. If you're the best in the world, you're starting camp the first weeks of July, playing straight through to early May, then getting sucked into the NT to play tournaments through all of June.

In a big year like the WC, you're literally getting like 2 weeks off all year. Which is okay if you work an office job but super shit for an elite athlete.

Jordan Spieth made 52m in 2016 to Messi's 81m. Messi also played from July to June. Spieth made all of his money from March to September. Which means Spieth makes more per week than Messi does.

Messi is the 26rth richest athlete of all time:
http://www.therichest.com/top-lists/top-100-richest-athletes/

There are FIVE golfers on that list higher than him.
#4 Arnold Palmer 675m
#6 Tiger Woods 640m
#18 Greg Norman 300m
#20 Phil Mickelson 295m
#22 Jack Nicklaus 280m

You know why?

Endorsements.

Endorsements make golfers WAY more money than soccer given the comparative popularity of the sports. Because golf is enjoyed by old white men with disposable income, so endorsements can pay out. Messi is beloved by Afghani children who make jerseys out of plastic bags.

they are dumb, a lot of them come from poor as shit backgrounds and barely enough education to know how to read and write in their native language. The few data we have on billionaires suggest golf is the most popular sport among them.

I love this sport and there is nothing I would rather do with my life.

You'll still lose money because of inflation.

If you have that much money, might as well put a large chunk of it in an index fund. That way you'll at least make money if you hold for decades.

And seriously, having two million dollars (in financial assets) makes you entry-level rich to me.

One million is a bit short indeed.

>>69329610
Yes you do.
Ever heard of Nicolas Cage ?
They will buy jeys, castles, buildings in front of the beach.
A top floor(how do tou say thay in english ?) apartment in the best parts of Rio can cost up to 8million.

Hulk Hogan lost hundreds of millions and was almost broke at some point (before winning his $115 million lawsuit recently).

Rap producer Scott Storch blew away his $70 million fortune in a few months by overspending: he bought a private jet, a huge yacht, twenty luxury cars, etc. Today he's got a net worth of $3,600.

Current interest rates are way below the inflation rate. Money in the bank currently loses value.

If you spend a shit load of money on property, won't they appreciate in value above the rate of inflation?

Provided one doesn't let them fall to shit ofc...

Kickers can play forever and with the rise in analytics in football it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a big rise in the salaries of top Kickers and punters. Being in range the second you cross the 50 is a pretty insane advantage to have

I'm surprised there hasn't been already when you think about the percentage of a team's points that kicker scores.

With moneyball handling personnel decisions in Cleveland now I'd bet they'll be the first team to really embrace it

Linebacker in the NFL.
I'm losing more brain cells a year because of alcohol anyway, at least there I'd be losing them because of passion not because of disgust and spite

Baseball easy, outfielder

>more money than most other sports and with guaranteed contracts.
>would not really be famous or recognized, not at all in most places abroad and not even much here in the US
>very little serious injury risk
>not physically exhausting
>team sport
>hang out with your bros in the dugout half the game

Golf is fine too but I'd much rather play a team sport

This
>stand around in the outfield
>hit 45 home runs
>get 500 million dollars

Sounds perfect
