Thats what they get for making it so hard to immigrate into their country.

You can make an argument for Africans considering Brazil has won several times and 1998 France once in the World Cup ( no Germany, Italy, Uruguay, Argentina, Spain and England have combined many more World Cups) but Arabs bring nothing to the table. They aren't known for their athletic prowess.

Because football is not yet their biggest sport. It'll probably take another generation for them to give up on baseball and focus completely on football. I don't think they will ever be a true elite team but with over 100M people and a good economy they should always be at least good. First thing to do should be fixing their league, there is no reason for them to not dominate eastern asia football, or at least to not be better than Korean teams,
>>

Why would they ever give up on baseball? It's literally ingrained into their culture. That's like claiming Americans are going to "give up" on gridiron football for no reason even though its by far the most popular sport in the country.

>Why would they ever give up on baseball?
Because it's an old men sport and J-league is not even 30 years old, it need some time to become the most popular sport.

You haven't given a legitimate reason why baseball would lose popularity in Japan. Can you cite any sort of statistics of growth or decline?
>>
>>69235178
You don't need statistics, all you need is logic. Old people are vastly fans of baseball because there was no football. Young people have access to both football and baseball.
Ergo, the death of old people and the birth of new people will make football more popular and baseball less popular.

He's full of shit. And yet another Eurocentric who all cultures will just gravitate toward soccer no matter what because it's "the world's game."

While soccer might certainly grow in Japan considering they don't really have a second major ball sport, baseball's growth has not sagged at all.

Also worth mentioning is the cultural aspect here. As much as Euros love their "fluid" jogging around sports, Asians are typically drawn to "hand-eye coordination sports." China, Singapore and that whole region with Badminton and Ping-Pong. Golf has exploded in South Korea over the past few decades, in addition to baseball. China is even taking a liking to snooker now, and Women's 9 ball pool in China will draw 150 million viewers on television over there.

Here's how the J-League is "growing." Looks like attendance is dropping to me.

Also worth mentioning is:

>Japan's defeat of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on March 10th was the most viewed sporting event in Japan the last 12 months, registering a 22.1 rating and a 43 share, out-rating all 2012 Olympics coverage and World Cup qualifying matches.

The WBC, which we know is kind of a crappy tournament since most of the best MLB players don't play, outdrew the World Cup.

And, this was ratings for a Semi-Final game:

>Japan's Semi-Final loss to Puerto Rico generated a 51 share in Japan, tops among all World Baseball Classic games.

>One-third of all televisions on in Japan were tuned to the World Baseball Classic for the three first Round Games in Fukuoka.

That's near some Superbowl numbers as percentage of televisions to population.

>Old people are vastly fans of baseball because there was no football.

Yes there was. The JSL ran from 1965-1992 before being reformed and then rebranded as the J-League.

And even then, the JSL was the second most popular sports league in the country after the NPB.

Soccer in Japan didn't just happen yesterday.

They love baseball and don't see it as an "old man sport" just because players aren't jogging around for 90 minutes.
>>
japan would prefer the country to collapse due to low population and be shit at soccer forever rather than let immigrants ruin the country like USA and europe.

Japan is a baseball country. Japan has had some decent teams who can get to the round lf 16 at the wc. But thats the best they can do. Soccer is pretty popular but its far from king there
