Even if they aren't completely random, a coin toss is a pretty good analogy to a shootout.
Imagine each shooter walks up with their coin and then the keeper has to guess which side it'll land on, except there's atleast 5 sides. But if the shooter doesn't catch the coin after he's flipped it(skies it over) the keeper wins by default
