>>68977804
Lol, no. Just for reasons
I know I've posted this stuff quite a bit, but I just think it's interesting (autism).
Ever since the BBWAA started their crusade against everyone they "suspected" or knew of using roids save a sacred few "clean", I've toyed with the idea of a live-ball HOF; I figure part of their logic is also comparing the roid-era players solely to players from before the live-ball era, which is fucking absurd.
So I came up with the "live-ball Hall" idea. Only a few rules:
>careers must have STARTED in or after 1920, when the live-ball was implemented (sorry, Babe)
>top 10 in career JAWS at their position are automatically in
>top 10 in career WAR are also automatics, even if they're not top 10 in JAWS
>above rules apply for the top 25 starting pitchers and 5 relief pitchers on each leaders list
>players who are real HOFers but not on the lists are still HOFers
>banned players (basically Pete Rose) are not considered
>"steroid"/stimulant/drug use is not taken into consideration unless they led to the player(s) being banned
I realize this isn't perfect, but neither is the BBWAA's method. There may be players who don't deserve to be within a mile of Cooperstown, or some surprising omissions from the real thing. Feel free to deb8.
For example, here's the list for starting pitchers who would, in theory, make the Hall:
>Live-Ball HOF Starting Pitchers
Roger Clemens
Tom Seaver
Lefty Grove
Randy Johnson
Greg Maddux
Warren Spahn
Bob Gibson
Phil Niekro
Bert Blyleven
Steve Carlton
Gaylord Perry
Pedro Martinez
Robin Roberts
Fergie Jenkins
Curt Schilling
Mike Mussina
Tom Glavine
Nolan Ryan
Jim Palmer
Wes Ferrell
Bob Feller
Hal Newhouser
Roy Halladay
Juan Marichal
Carl Hubbell
Ted Lyons
Red Ruffing
Rick Reuschel
John Smoltz
Kevin Brown
Remember, I used the top 25 starting pitchers by JAWS, then compared it with the top 25 SP by career WAR list, and added any from the latter but not the former.
I'll post the lists for other positions as well.

You'll notice this one's a bit wonky, because there are about 6 and only 6 deserving relief pitchers. Had to include the last two even though they're way behind the others because HOFers, and Tom Gordon because I believe he got shafted–he was solid as a starter, reliever and closer.

The Rangers fought hard against the Rays in the ALDS who at that time were a legitimate deep playoff run team. Remember the Rangers were fresh off bankruptcy and being owned by the league.

I'm still pissed off how that HOF vote went down.

someone is mega-booty-blasted about roiders. I don't know why, though. Numbers on a list don't lie:

>15 years
considering Red Sox stars always seem to have a seven-year itch, I honestly could not tell you. Honestly, I hope Tim Wakefield gets in (this will be his first ballot), but I know he doesn't have a shot in hell.

Griffey is going in this year.
Ichiro will probably be retired after 2017 so about 7-8 years and he's in.
Felix probably won't last another 10 years so I think he'll get in on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year.
Edgar has 3 years left and likely won't be elected (reeee)
Cano will be going in as a Yankee I think

Yet the Rangers completely embarrassed the defending world series champions. Made that team of overpaid faggots look like a little league team
>>68979328
so why dont you like either team?
If you're in the easy bay, go with the A's, or if you want to go with the giants do that
or do what I do and support both, since theyre in alternate leagues

nice rolls
Omar is 41st in JAWS and 30th in WAR, so the numbers wouldn't support him. He's a guy I like and wish, too, will get in, but I doubt he'll make it.
Lofton is really underrated as both a fielder and baserunner, and I don't know why he and Jim Edmonds both slipped through the cracks just like that, considering they're two of the top 5 CFs of the 90s/00s.
>>68979285
like Raines, Edgar has the mystical Vets Committee to possibly shoehorn him in. It's a possibility.
>>68979410
not even joking, I like both teams. But I wouldnt wear that shitty hat
>>68979376
and if they both go to the WS?
c-can you do that?

should clarify that those Omar rankings are among shortstops only
here's your all-time GOAT batting lineup according to these lists:
1. Joe Morgan
2. Alex Rodriguez
3. Barry Bonds
4. Mike Schmidt
5. Lou Gehrig
6. Willie Mays
7. Hank Aaron
8. Johnny Bench
9. Dennis Eckersley
10. [insert DH here]

It kinda sucks that Thome will be the only inductee from those 90's tribe teams. If they won an eries maybe Omar and Kenny could have snuck in.

>>68979454
Lofton got fucked over because there was a lot eligible players still left and not enough votes to go around. The whole process was shit and unfortunately I don't see the Veterans Committee fixing that mistake later.

If Manny somehow gets in I think he said he'd wear an Indians hat, as silly as it might seem.
so i watched the phenom today and it was a really weird movie, ethan hawk, and giamatti were excellent as you would expect. It had a lot less to do with actual baseball situations than you would expect, its really focused on characters and authentic conversations and events. It has hints of themes from whiplash although very minimal. As a baseball movie you probably wont enjoy it but its worth watching in my opinion. Overall i enjoyed it but the ending felt unsatisfying and "scattered", didnt really get any cathartic payoff or anything but i guess that would be pretty stereotypical and cheesy which this movie avoids pretty much entirely.
overall solid 7/10

did they even have any good homegrown SPs? I remember seeing Gooden and Herschiser on a few of them
>>68979728
well, he's been in two killer 3-4 combos in his career, either one would be cool with me. The Sox already have Dewey as a #24, but his isn't retired because club policy is 10 years with the team plus HOF, and would kinda seem wrong to me. just me rambling though, I say he deserves election, but they roiding and the way his career ended will bite him in the ass, big-time, when election time rolls round.
>>68979415
Yep because Yankees fluked into 2009 and it showed when they got exposes
When the FUCK will this garbage end?

the 20/200-vision umps, or digital strike zones?
Name a player that is the very definition of "singles hitter"
