Holy shit, the Scots aren't wasting any time

>Scotland could vote to leave the UK within the next 2 years
>Scotland voted decisively in favour of remaining in the EU, but Britain as a whole voted to leave.
>"Scotland sees its future as part of the EU," Sturgeon said in a statement reported by The BBC. "Scotland clearly and decisively voted to remain part of the European Union, 62% to 38%."
>Salmond told ITV News that another vote on Scottish independence could be held sometime in the next two years.
>"Whatever that period is - two years, two-and-a-half years - that would have to be the timescale of the next referendum because what you would want to do is remain in the European Union while the rest of the UK moved out," he added.
>Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who was a prominent campaigner for Scotland to remain a part of the UK in 2014, also conceded that Scotland is likely to demand another referendum.

Reposting from the other thread

Here's what I think will happen:

1. UK will try to get deals that will change as little as possible as far as trade goes with the EU
2. The EU obviously won't let that happen, as they pretty much have to "punish" the UK, even though it means some harm for the EU member states themselves as well
3. The GBP will stabilize over time, will however never return to its former stable self (welcome to the currency rollercoaster life)
4. Foreign Investments into the UK will decrease MASSIVELY
5. In order to not get into a long-term recession and possibly budget crisis, the UK will have to grow very strong over the next years, the question is: How the fuck are they going to achieve that?
6. Inner-European immigration into the UK will go down heavily, however there is going to be an increase of immigrants from outside of Europe, because somebody has to fill the void the Eastern/Southern Europeans are going to leave behind (the alternative would be to let Brits do these jobs, but that would mean an increase of prices)
7. Scotland (and possibly Northern Ireland) are going to demand another referendum on their independence at some point.

So the EU is going to overrule member-states, harm their economies, and punish countries who dare to cross it, all while other member-states are lining up to hold their own referendums? They're welcome to try, but all that will do is accelerate the collapse of the EU. Let's see how that plays in Austria, the Netherlands, V4, etc...

>3. The GBP will stabilize over time, will however never return to its former stable self (welcome to the currency rollercoaster life)
>4. Foreign Investments into the UK will decrease MASSIVELY

?????
Reconcile these 2 statements.

>5. In order to not get into a long-term recession and possibly budget crisis, the UK will have to grow very strong over the next years, the question is: How the fuck are they going to achieve that?

We can make our own trade deals with non-EU countries now. That's a huge, huge win. There may well be a recession, but the UK is a net budget contributor and a net importer from the EU. You need us more than we need you.

>7. Scotland (and possibly Northern Ireland) are going to demand another referendum on their independence at some point.

we're net importers but we won't have a manufacturing industry (which is just foreign car companies at this point). So because we'll be making no cars it won't matter that we net importers because we have no choice but to pay tariffs, pretty much tariff's 101. Also we'll take that deal because PM gove/boris don't actually dislike the eu, they just knew it was their best chance to become pm in their careers; either one of them will happily accept a FTA and being part of schengen

Austria, the Netherlands and especially the V4 are majority pro-EU
They might be anti-refugee, but very much pro-EU

>Reconcile these 2 statements.

The GBP, much like the Swiss Franc, has been a reliable, stable currency so far. It was the go-to currency for risk-averse long-term investors.

Now it's going to be a playball for the speculators and enter the rollercoaster on which the Euro and the USD have already been for years.

And yes, foreign investments will go down, because there's nothing investors hate more than uncertainty.
And the UK is now entering a very long period of uncertainty.

>We can make our own trade deals with non-EU countries now. That's a huge, huge win. There may well be a recession, but the UK is a net budget contributor and a net importer from the EU. You need us more than we need you.

Sorry, but that's just delusion.

You're not a colonial power anymore.
The commonwealth countries won't let you exploit them anymore and since you're acting alone now, there's not even much you can offer them (it makes a difference if you negotiate as part of a 500 million market or a 60 million one)

>Scotland probably (if we let the cucks have one, we'll see, probably not, they can rot for all we care), but never NI. Even if they did, a uROI will never happen.

We are free to import from the rest of the world now though. The old days of EU protectionism are finished. If they won't sell us their cars without high tariffs, we can buy them from somewhere else. Their loss, not ours.
Also, you think it would be politically advantageous for Boris or Gove to take a much, much worse deal than what we have now for no real reason?

why would japan sell us tariff free cars when we can't manufucture cars for themselves. Also, logistically, it's a lot more diffucult to trade with the rest of the world. Still not getting it, are you? Calling people ignorant isn't a good way to win votes.

It's a bit early to say how the GBP will react (the "record loss" since this morning has been halved already, it won't be nearly as big as people thought), but even if it is very weak, that just helps our own industry and exports which is a long-term victory.

If I was a member of an EU country and saw the EU essentially saying stay or we'll punish you and your economy, that'd just make me hate the EU. That is almost tyrannical and it would be too easy for anti-EU politicians to run with that evil EU narrative then.

All decisions the EU decides on must be passed by the EU council, which consists of the elected head of states of all EU member countries.
