I have realised that now how important football is for our society. You can talk about football with literally anyone for hours, because football is an important part of everyone's lives here(heck, even for some women), If you don't like football it'll be much harder to make friends.

Don't know how are things now, but not so long ago Santiago Wanderers had a huge fan base. Not just your average hothead, but complete families. In fact, most people would root for a big team because they liked them (Colo, la U) and also would follow Santiago Wanderers because their granfathers took them as kids to see the matches. The same with Santiago Morning, Naval, Fernandez Vial, etc. Probably works that way also in other parts of South America.

Brazil doesn't love football. The average brazilian likes football for memes/banter/small talk. The average attendance in our league is embarassing. Flamengo claims to have 30mi supporters (lmao) yet their attendance avg last year was 12.663 people. Most of the ultra's chants were copied from the argentinians, the portuguese, the turks, the greeks, etc.
I would say Italy and England are the countries where you speak most about football in the pubs/restaraunt/bar; where everywhere you find football journal and so on, even thought England generally follow a lot of rugby and other sports aswell while in Italy football is the only core topic. Probably followed by germany and spain.
