In small subs it's not that bad, just the default ones suck. It's also not bad in places like /r/soccer if your opinion is aligned with the general one.

In 4chan, a full-nazi has the same opinion-weight as Tom Hanks.

Reddit is also great for porn, because of it's organisation.

It's insufferable unless you're a fan of Man United or Arsenal, since those two groups make up like 90% of the users. In general I think the sports reddits are probably better than the rest of the site, though. There's a lot of overlap with /sp/.
