It's just different and takes different skills, so looks bad to the untrained eye, much as people like to shit on it here. Movement off the ball is far more important for example and the patterns can be very intricate, when combined with the quickfire passes necessary to avoid blocks on the smaller court they are very hard to get right so passes get dropped and the play can look low quality. Would imagine there is more of a habit of just looking at the person who has the ball in basketball since that is where the action is, whereas the reverse is true in netball.

The shooting still seems pretty sub par though. I watched a whole game once and like women's basketball the shooting was just poor. Missed shots left and right. Watching some of the top-level women's players (like the aussie WC team) makes me think it takes a form of athleticism (there are some really impressive interceptions those girls make), but imo it's hampered by no dribbling whatsoever and a limitation on who can score. What is even the oldest "sport" (excluding traditional sports like the ones held at the Olympics) still in existence? There's no deffinitive answer on how old Lacrosse is, cricket was probably created sometime in the 16th century, and ancient Rugby and Association Football equivalents have been around for a very, very long time but exact dates are uncertain. If we're talking about sports that still remain relatively true to their nature would it be Rowing or Horseback riding? Maybe Marksmanship, like Bow and Arrow shooting?
