amus claim red bull recommend him to renault. he's been out of f1for nearly 5 years. yes, he's red bull's test driver, but that means little.

what reason would renault have to take him? they can go after anyone.

>>

when you think about it, the Latvijan flag is just a niggerer Osterreich flag.
>>
>>68803052
Im guessing the reason why he may actually get a seat is because of his ties with eDams Renault in FE, which are basically the Renault of FE. Maybe theyre impressed by his driving but the fact that hes not dominating in a car miles better than the rest of the field and his qualifying choking I highly doubt they'll pick him up. That being said though I'd much prefer to have him back over Palmer.
>>
>>68802603
Well, we only really saw him in a Marussia shitbox against Reliable Chilton, but he seemed promising.
Had he lived now he'd probably be in the 2nd Haas seat waiting to play as Vettel's second as soon as Raikkonen leaves.
>>
>>68803489

If anything his FE performance has shown that he is actually not a great driver for F1 and the likes.

Their car was/is the best by miles and is good enough to start last and finish on the podium in a semi-spec series yet he hasn't ran away with the championship as he should have

He chokes so often and makes a lot of stupid mistakes (Mexico, Long Beach, all those failed qualis) and occasionally has great drives. He has been out of F1 for so long, I don't really see him as a smart investment unless Renault really want to start pushing Formula E as a feeder series.

Renault should keep Magnussen for the sake of consistency and because he is pretty good and doesn't fuck up that much and give the second seat to Ocon who is a hotshot and beat Verstappen in F3
>>
>>68803489
they'd do better to assess ocon in fp1s this year, buy him out from mercedes if needed, and put him in the car next year.
>>
>>68802416
Yes, hopefully, Buemi was underrated and unlucky af.

Ferrari said that Bianchi's intended career trajectory was Sauber for 2015 and then depending on how he does there, Ferrari for 2016. Supposedly a lot of the Sauber drama with drivers basically happened as a result of Bianchi potatoing (Bianchi was probably part of the Ferrari engine deal desu)

This one in particular was from 'Senna vs. Prost' by Malcolm Folley. A bretty gr8 book if you want to learn more about F1 through the 80s and early 90s.

F1 books I've read :-

>'Senna Versus Prost: The Story of the Most Deadly Rivalry in Formula One' - Malcolm Folley

>'Ayrton Senna - The Whole Story' - Christopher Hilton

>'Michael Schumacher - The Whole Story' - Christopher Hilton

>'Michael Schumacher - Driven to Extremes' - James Allen

>'Michael Schumacher - The Edge of Greatness' - James Allen

>'The Death of Ayrton Senna' - Richard Williams,

>Wobbler's book

Out of all these, the only ones I wouldn't recommend for interesting stories would be Wobbler's, and 'The Death of Ayrton Senna', the former because I had little to no interest in Wobbler aside from the fractious Red Bull years, and the latter because it's the perfect illustration of how to fellate a dead man.
>>
>>68806163
>The Death of Ayrton Senna
I actually have that one at home, somebody bought it as a gift. Haven't read it yet. I also have "Formula One Fanatic" by Koen Vergeer, but it was basically a Dutch fan's retelling of F1 history with some minor inaccuracies.

I would recommend "Life at the Limit" and "Beyond the Limit" by Sid Watkins. Apparently "Rapid Response" by Steve Olvey is also good, but I haven't read it yet and it's about CART, not F1.
>>
>>68806973

It's a good read for a blind Senna fanboy, but if you have even a modicum of respect for Prost, that book is garbage for you. It's much worse than even the Senna """documentary"""

>"Life at the Limit" and "Beyond the Limit" by Sid Watkins

Do you happen to have a download link for their e-books? I usually have to torrent them.
>>
>>68807474
No, I bought those on Amazon. There are some good deals if you don't mind buying used books. You can probably find those for 0.01 GBP and only have to pay for delivery.

>>
>>68806163

Is Wobblers book really that bad? I'm not a huge fan of him either but I want to read it to get some insight into the Red Bull dynamics and what went on behind the scenes.

I also want to read Jackie Stewart's book.
>>
>>68809020

Wobbler's isn't really bad; it just doesn't go into enough detail for my taste, particularly compared to all those other biographies written by journalists.

Plus, I was never really interested in the guy. So it probably came across as worse to me than it actually is.

So?

$7.00 isn't much for a hot dog, I mean, for the convenience and all, so when you think about that, $8.50 isn't much to ask at all for a hot dog, so surely anyone would be willing to spend $9.00 for a hot dog at an F1 race, because $10.00 for an F1 hot dog is a perfectly reasonable price.

fantastic GP2 tracks
horrible F1 tracks

like how do you design a track where the advantageous and disadvantageous of each car equally get regressed or progressed towards a mean so each driver has an equal chance of succeeding?
Like how do you reduce all that into a series of turns, chicanes and straights?

do you make the track so difficult and slow that all cars are driving at the same speeds and never max themselves out?

Why should they? Lots of classic tracks have survived over the years despite having very clear shticks that make them better for some teams or worse for others. As a driver, at the end of the day you make do with what you've got, weekend after weekend. Nothing else should really matter. If you want fairness and balance, there's a 21-round world championship for that.

the best thing about european gp was the GP2 races yet f1 was a snore. The mercedes wins kid got in his mercedes wins machine and just cruised to first place with a 30 second lead never having any fear of being challenged or have to work for it.
>>
>>68846997
Well then change the rules regarding the car so the performance difference is less.

The tracks are not the main issue. It is the cars.
>>
>>68846997
>yet f1 was a snore
Only because the GP2 races were marred by extreme incompetence because the grid is shit. You're not going to run into that with F1 most of the time, and when you do, it's not down to the track. Remember how shit Spa 2013 was?

Beyond that, the only thing the FIA can do is apply some drastic regulation changes that help close up the field and bring the sport in a different direction. However, even with 2017 being just up the road, positive changes in that regard are unlikely to happen unless the FIA goes through similarly drastic changes, and the sport is too corrupt for that to happen any time soon.

Spain wasn't legitimately his fault though. He just thought that Rosberg slowing down was just him being bad and so he wouldn't try to block him, so he did what he does every race.

Only when you are going too slow actually, lel.

There are three recordings: one when you drive slow, one at medium speed and one at high speed. It changed with every line depending on your speed.

When Rosbergfag's father won the championship in 1982:
-16 races / 11 different winners
- Only 2 races won from pole
- Race victories achieved starting from P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6, P7, P8, P10, P17
- Race victories achieved by 7 different teams

Now THAT is fucking racing.

Until F1 decides to impose restrictions that enable greater competition throughout the grid, then the races will continue to suck ass 90% of the time.
>>
>>68848321
>modify diet to reduce caloric intake

You don't need a fucking doctor to figure that shit out, fatty.
>>
>>68849653
Considering it was entirely generated through randomness, incompetence, reliability issues, one Ferrari driver dying and the other being critically injured, I would not consider it to be the gold standard by any stretch of the imagination. Just look at Monaco 1982 and try not to laugh.
>>
>>68849653
>Imposing restrictions

F1 is not a fucking spec series and the more you restrict the more the teams funnel their budgets down smaller and smaller avenues of attack.
Better to make things more open and let development happen naturally.

F1 teams have a budget and will spend that budget. no amount of rules will decrease that budget. Better to make them spread it over a large area with potential gains for everyone rather than a niche area.

You might end up with times where one team dominates but tough shit that happens. That team developed best and won. Simple.
>>
>>68849653
>Until F1 decides to impose restrictions that enable greater competition throughout the grid
That can't happen, and it's not so much that in the past the gaps were smaller, but that reliability was such a joke that even slower cars could have a chance at the top spots.
>>
>>68849709

The season results are fairly similar throughout that era, though, which means that the competition was much tighter than it was today.

Seems like shit didn't start getting bad until the late 80's, and then by the time Schmui hit, competition was pretty much non-existent in the "sport", and hasn't changed much ever since.
>>
>>68849712
>F1 is not a fucking spec series

And that's why the competition sucks goat ass, and why nobody watches this fucking shit outside of die hard motorsports fans.
>>
>>68849782
>fairly similar throughout that era
Barring the Ferrari calamities, the entire era suffered from those issues. It's only after Senna's death that things started stabilizing - prior to that, the fight for anything but the top spots was a joke, and in 1982 in particular it was a joke at the top too.

Besides the previous Prost-Senna-Mansell-Piquet nostalgia, the very fact that you think that's when things got bad is a sign that F1 is not the right sport for you.
>>
>>68849828

When you look at the season stats and see 60% of the races won from pole, and 90% won from P1-P3, and only 3 different race winners throughout the whole season, than your "racing" series has a problem.

What the fuck don't you morons understand about that?

Why the fuck even watch when you know who's going to win 60% of the time?

You idiots may enjoy the MWL bullshit, but I don't, so I guess you're right in that this shitty "race" series may not be for me, because I expect actual competition, not a procession.
>>
>>68849828

2015 F1 season

- 3 different winners of 19 races
- 2 teams win all 19 races
- 13 of 19 races won from pole

2014 F1 season

- 3 different winners of 19 races
- 2 teams win all 19 races
- 9 of 19 races won from pole
