Ronaldo was never good at free kicks. His entire kicking technique is based on the 1/100 chance that the ball will go down fast enough. He doesn't control his kicks, he uses the instep (upper part of foot, not sure if thats the right terminology in English) to blast the ball forward and then prays the ball will suddenly go down and surprise the goalie.
I don't know if you've ever played football, but if you have any experience taking free kicks yourself you should be able to realize why Ronaldo's method is so unreliable and impossible to control.

I don't know if people are memeing about guzan and that free kick but it didn't matter. We just got straight up outclassed. Our midfield got completely exposed.
