The main problem with analyzing dropped catches is that it's impossible to statistically quantify the pyschological shifts from dropped catches or umpballs.

it's the equivalent in Tennis of when say a linesman incorrectly calls a ball out on a serve when it is infact an ace. However, when it is challenged by the player and overturned, the server is only awarded a fresh first serve, not an ace because it is assumed that the linesman had an impact on the receiver.
