Shit meme. This is arguably the most stacked era in the history of the game.
Every single team in the NBA right now has a player that would have been top 5 in the league any year before 2000
>>
We always overrated people in their moment of glory. When Dirk finally won his title the talk was that he was the best or second best PF of all time. I mean fuck, there were literally "is Curry better than Jordan" conversations this year. Recency bias doesn't get sorted out until years after a player's career.

If Lebron doesn't win anymore he'll definitely be in the top 10 but I doubt in the top 5. 3-4 is still too hard to overlook for someone that played in the worst conference in NBA history for his entire career.
>>
>>68714850
>Dirk
>DIRK
>>
>>68712683
Russell sure dominated those 8 teams in the league!!
LeBron is a more athletic, stronger, faster, Magic Johnson. Don't even get me started on their comparisons on defense. Stats don't do it justice when you see the slow paced one handed dribbling of the 80s.
>>
>>68715033

>Every single team in the NBA right now has a player that would have been top 5 in the league any year before 2000

>this delusion

There are like 10 players in the league that wouldn't come off the bench in the 80's or 90's.
No skill, no defense, no fundamentals. Just MUH ATHLETICISM. Most players today wouldn't even be able to play if you called travel or 3 seconds, which the NBA ignores now.

Also over a third of the entire league tanks every year now. In the past it was news when ONE team tanked, i.e. the Spurs before they got Tim Duncan. And their "tanking" was throwing in the towel as a sub-par team after their star player got injured. Now teams are intentionally bad for 4, 5+ years.
>>
He's always been a top 5 for me.

Rings/Trophies/MVPs/Finals MVPs =/= greatness.

There have been multiple GREAT players to have never won a title or only won one. Does that mean that they're not great? No. Fuck off retards.
>>
>>68715101
If Dirk had Pop as a coach and the same roster Duncan had, he would be a 7-8 time NBA champion.
>>
>>68715358

No they wouldn't because timmy is the backbone of the spurs D while dirk is average at best in that area
>>
>>68715237
I can tell you've never played this sport ever. The league is coming out with faster, longer, more skilled players every year. Training and nutrition has also changed and these players now would dominate. Reggie Jackson would be top 5 in the 80s. Enjoy your fundamentals while you're getting beaten on every play offense and blocked on D.
>>
>>68715237
In Jordan's era the NBA was diluted by expansion, growing by 4 teams in the early-mid 90s. That's a lot of CBL players suddenly guarding Jordan.

There hasn't been an expansion team in the NBA in over 25 years, the league is much deeper

>>
>>68716991
Here's the thing.

We have become so accustomed to the level of play that LeBron exerts on the rest of the NBA, that we have basically become desensitized to it. LeBron should legit be MVP every year since like 2007. He should be like 10 time MVP right now. He's so much better than everyone else its not even funny. He plays all 5 positions and still dominates. You need him to play point? Great. You need him to play center and lock down a dude bigger than him? He can do that too. No one else in the league has the athleticism and strength to do what he does every single season. The dude is a freak. Like I said, we've become desensistized to what LeBron does because its the status quo at this point. We're used to it. His outrageous dominance isn't a novelty to us anymore so we don't think about it.

He deserves MVP for the Finals.

Also, he led every player in the Finals in every single statistical category. What the actual fuck. Let that sink in. Now shutup.

>>
>>68715484
All i see in the league now are a bunch of VERY athletic players who are much bigger and stronger than the players used to be but all have less skill. You think if Lebron was Jordan's size he would be anything more than Vince Carter or Tracy McGrady? Jordan didnt have Lebron's freakish size and speed but he was a way better basketball player. He didnt try to bulldoze his way to the basket looking for contact on every play like Lebron. He looked only for the basket and actually tried to AVOID contact on his way there. Pound for pound Jordan was way more skilled than Lebron, was a better leader than Lebron, and had kore respect from fans, commentators, and players. Whether they were on his team or not.

Bird was better at ice cold clutch shooting.

Settle down Isiah

Kareem is 6-4, no one is saying he's better than MJ
>>
>>68718266
>is being undefeated better than not being undefeated?

Yes. Especially when you take into account that the Eastern conference is trash. His 3-4 record proves that he has ZERO competition getting to the finals but once he has to play a competent team his losses pile up
>>
>>68718411
That's awful logic.

By that logic a player who goes 1-0 in the finals > 5 - 1
>>
bill russell is so overrated

of course its easy to rack up rings when there are EIGHT fucking teams in the league and its 90% slow white guys
>>
>>68717235
LeBron is the only person is the league capable of getting "quiet" triple doubles which is a testament to just how much better he is than everyone else on the floor.
>>
I definitely get triggered when people put Kobe and not Duncan in Top 10 lists. Not even a Spurs fan.

lmao ok retard.

No because the question was is 6-0 better than 6-4. Im saying 6-0 is better than 6-4. 8-4 could MAYBE be considered on par with 6-0 but how the hell can 6 wins and 4 losses be as good as 6 wins and 0 losses? If Lebron had to fight his way through a very tough conference to get to the finals every year it would help his case but how much credit should he be given for just getting to the finals when every team in the east is trash?

Sportscenter is fucking praising Lebron for being 2-0 in game 7's. Seriously? He 3-4 in the Finals. That means in those 4 finals he lost he didnt even make it to game 7 and 2 out of the 3 finals he did win he was forced to play a game 7. How the hell is that worthy of praise?

this

russell was lucky as fuck that he was a giant black dude in the 60s playing basketball when whites were still the vast majority of players

kareem was the real deal, he could probably still rape the league today in his prime

russell would be lucky to average a double double
>>
I still wouldnt put him above Magic/Bird.

>bird making his teammates better
Lebron is miles better in making team mates better, he gets a lot of shit for dishing it out to team mates when he drives to the paint. Lebron is all about teamwork too
>>
>>68719099
Look man, Lebron has all but destroyed the careers of all-stars Bosh and Love. Bird made sure Parish, McHale, Walton an DJ got theirs while he was winning three straight league MVPs and those rings
>>
>>68712558
no. switched teams to title hunt, cherrypicked/colluded to form teams. took the easy way out and you think he's top 5? ha

b8

Times a player averaged 30 PPG, 10 RPG, 8 APG in #NBAFinals:
LeBron: 2
Every other player in NBA history: 0

1. Jordan
2. LeBron
3. Kareem
4. Wilt
5. Kobe
>>
He's at best a stretch top 10. He's too one dimensional to be considered an all time great.
