The Euros is more competitive because European teams are simply better. All our high-scoring games happen during qualifying and our shit teams get weeded out. As a result, the Euros is far more prestigious, third only to the World Cup and UEFA Champions League.
As for which is more entertaining, at the moment it would be the Copa America. Although the Euros is still in the group stages and the expanded number of teams means that the worse teams would rather force a draw than aim for a win and face the possibility of losing. I'd imagine that the Euros will only get better from this point. The teams at the bottom of their group now need to win to ensure qualification, which will mean that they are forced to be more offensive. Then we have the knockouts, which can't end in draws.

Well the Copa is in every way more chaotic. The refs are completely ridiculous and from what I've seen so far most south american teams don't give a single fuck about their defense. They just try to run towards the goal and don't care for what happens in the back.
By doing that you definitely see more goals but it's still a very unstructured way to play and for me it doesn't really feel like professional football. I'd bet a hundred bucks that most european teams right now could absolutely destroy the majority of american teams with their attitude.

It's not the refs fault, it's because the players are playing much more physical than in the Euros and aren't careful in picking and choosing when to make a smart hard challenge or to play it safe.
The Hungary team was recently very physical and there were more yellow cards as a result, you wouldn't say the refs are just ridiculous, the same is happening in almost all the Copa America matches. I guess the South American players just want to win more and aren't concerned about getting injured and playing for their club teams with their giant salaries. These guys just have more grit than the average euro player. You can see that same mindset in the eastern euro players.
