The Volvo 240 after 20 years gets electrical issues, as they made the wire harness bio-degradable. Also, I would of needed to buy another 240 to supply parts for the driving 240 as parts got pricey. (Windshield wiper motor - 300 USD for example)
New Volvos are not as good as the 240, and it wasn't in the price range. I paid 17k for the mazda 3 and now have 130k miles on it.

We don't know that yet. They need to sort out the regs so that it's attractive to new manufacturers if need be and that's probably why it's taken so long to settle on them. They've already taken steps to make this a viable formula.
