they refs don't get paid per game in the playoffs, they get paid a set amount for the whole series regardless of how many games it goes. Some refs even have complained about it when they have had to work a seven game series and only get paid the same amount as fellow refs doing four game series.

Doesn't the commission or some officiating body review games with refs and basically tell them they missed certain calls? Or to focus or certain calls which they believe they missed? Which is essentially saying, we want you to call X on Y team more which could fuck up an individual or a team based on their playstyle.
