Having every game worth 3 points means that every game is worth exactly the same and has to be treated with the appropriate importance; having every game worth 3 points means that variables are reduced which could otherwise lead to a skewed result using the goal differential method.
Often a team that has a better goal difference than its point total suggests has done well against the poorer teams, showing the ability to soundly beat bad players - but consistently lost against the better teams. Should they be rewarded for their failure to beat the better sides in the league?
