I think the semis would be a good achievement. Before the tournament I had France, Germany and Spain above us. I had us about level with England and Italy based on what we could achieve
Last world cup we had the easiest group but still made a really hard time of it to go through, then faced an easy opponent in the USA and needed to take it to ET (although we played brilliantly that game), and we were completely useless against Argentina. The world cup left a sour taste in my mouth because you just know how well Belgium could theoretically play but you never see it

It's become quite difficult to filter out the bullshit these days.
I think Wilmots was allowed to stay because it had been 8 years since we last made a tournament, and we did great in qualifying (resultswise), but to me that was never a surprise considering the huge amount of talent in the group
I think public opinion turned somewhat against him in the last world cup because everyone felt a bit disappointed with what they saw, but it's really difficult to measure the opinion in the current landscape because the red devils hype is so huge with everyone now. I think in 2014 everyone was a bit disappointed but I think the decision was made to stick with Wilmots for stability and the expectation it would get better as the group would age some more.
