How come soccer doesn't have a 3-point line?
don't want the equivalent of meme chuckers to dominate the sport
Pretty sure if you kick a goal from your own half you get 3 points ?

We reward either individual or team based goals the same

I've always thought that in football, a touchdown from outside, say, 20 yards should be 8 and a touchdown from at or inside the 20 should be 4.
We do, it's just really rare for someone to score a threeoal, as we call it
You need to head the ball in from outside the box while standing with your back against the goal, it's really difficult

it's actually harder to score a touchdown in the red zone because you have no deep option, your strategy is basically cut in half and you need a QB who excels at throwing into double coverage.

sometimes its more meaningful to get inside the area touching the ball or drivling the shit out of everyone and doing a good definition than a shit team that can not penetrate the rival defense and gets a lucky shot from 40m from the goal line.

....or, you know, a RB that can average better than 0.5 yrds per run

>his team doesn't have a threeoal specialist

There's 2-point goals in indoor soccer.

The runningback will have to deal with like 7 250-350 pounders because of goal line packages.

But the field is effectively shrunk the closer you get to the goal line, allowing the defense to keep more players closer to the line of scrimmage. A bulldozer of a back is still useful, obviously, but deception or jump ball receivers tend to be more important in the red zone.

This
Long field goals (over 50 or 55 yards) should count for 4 though
