No shit. But the state of CA is LARGE and the Bay Area and LA democrats basically get the electoral vote power of all the republicans in the state. If you split off Jefferson, it would get maybe 6-7 republican electoral votes, and CA would only have 48 automatic democrat electoral votes. Not to mention 2 more republican senators.
If you split the state further, like in 6 as has been proposed by some, it's even better. This is why liberals are so against it.
