10-20 years ago alot of teams were at Andorra or Malta tier. Today there are too many good teams that can and will BTFO out of the established teams.
Its a financially stupid decision to keep it 16 team, because large teams would often miss qualifying when there are so many good ones.
It would be a loss for the europeans themselves. Almost all countries have serious national teams now with stars. Imagine never qualifying because there are 52 Uefa members and only 16 spots.
And 24 teams means we get to see more matches, whats the problem with that? I love every second of it.
