this is the greatest team of the live-ball era (1920-present), undeniably, sorted by WAR. and yes, it's the same if sorted it by JAWS.
and yes, I included Ruth, Gehrig and Hornsby because they played 1/2 or more of their careers in the live-ball era.

I can't tell if you're saying Ruth isn't the best or not, but he played from 1914-1935 and, of course, had his best years in the twenties, after WW1.

It was a rough 7th inning but it was a damn good pitching duel through 6.
4-1 was the final. 3 were in the 7th.

Duffy was a middle reliever until recently. Why he was let go over 75 pitches? IDK. Yost and Eiland might have seen something, different than the fans, in Duffy and are trying to get him to 100 pitches an outing. To be honest with you Wright only faced 3 more batters than Duffy but threw 15 more pitches and only one more strike. Duffy isn't fully used to a SP role yet

>>68202150
I'll be objective by weighing the pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Navarro and Avila are two excellent defensive catchers who will ensure the continued success of the Who's? starting rotation. Sale and Q are elite, Carlos Rodon is pitching like Carlos Zambrano, Shields eats lots of innings and provides lots of quality starts so that the bullpen doesn't have to come in, and Gonzalez/Latos duke it out for that last rotation spot.
2. Jose Abreu will pick it up. His BB% and K% align with his previous seasons. He just needs to get the sweet spot of the bat to the ball more frequently and he his ISO will go up. The low ISO is bringing down his other numbers. Balls he's hit haven't gone out as much yet, but they will.
3. Todd Frazier keeps hitting dingers. The only negative thing about him is the low average, but everything else is excellent and consistent. He's a good player who is productive.
4. Bort has been above average and consistent, a tiny bit streaky, but good. Meanwhile, Tim Anderson is raking at AAA. He'll be up around the All-Star game to take over for J-Roll. He's an automatic upgrade and putting J-Roll on the bench strengthens it.
5. Adam Eaton is a stud in RF, one of the best. His offense is down because he's not hitting the ball as hard. His BB% is up, his K% is down from last year's 19% to 12.9%. He's just making weak contact. If he gets a little more aggressive, the ISO will go up and his offense could be closer to last year's.
6. Melky and Garcia are just average all around players and they need to keep doing that. If one of them has a good streak, it could result in some extra wins.
7. Robertson, Jones, Putnam, and Duke are all good and pretty reliable. Jennings has been good but probably won't keep it up like those four. Fat Albert will get cut and the Who's? will make a trade for bullpen help.
8. Possibly, Ventura finally gets fired and Renteria steps in. Renteria is a chill guy who is modern and knowledgeable with his managing skills.
>>68202150
>>68203408
Cons:
1. We're talking optimistically about the Who's?.
>>68203348

And btw, I was playing Devil's advocate in that post, you fucking numb cock sucker.

DG shitposted yesterday by posting his personal top five cy young rankings for each league based on a WAR formula he created but he refused to share it. Kershaw had almost twice as much WAR as Syndergaard.

Apparently the Tigers didn't exist this offseason

IP: 92.67/70.67 = 1.31
ERA: 1.91/1.46 = 1.31
so Kershaw has been approximately 1.31*1.31 = 1.72 times better than syndergaard
4.9/3.1 = 1.58
his formula is conservative desu

Tigers probably were here
