Buy a ton of non-rare golds of the same player. List them all for a unique start price (6400 or whatever) and 10k buy now.
You basically buy in quantities of 10k. If you want 500k, you buy 50 of the player/players (you can list 14 of one guy, 12 of another, as long as you tell the website what players and how many of each).
It'll take a couple hours to be delivered so make sure you list them for 12 or 24 hours. Make sure you buy a bunch at once because it's likely you'll get caught and won't be able to buy again.
And like I said, spend the coins IMMEDIATELY. If you wait you'll get coin wiped and will have wasted your money on nothing. Seriously, don't even leave 2k coins. If you have some coins left over after making your team, buy consumables.

For a lot of footballers being able to make a living in general is enough for them, so they might as well do it for their hometown club that they've supported all their life, rather than joining a foreign team full of mercanaries who don't care for anything but themselves and their bank accounts.
The definition of success varies from person to person, and I doubt Mark Noble cares whether or not people like you don't talk about him, being the captain of the club he's supported all his life is probably more important and more of a measure of personal success to him than any blank paycheck courtesy of a Saudi oil baron would be.

They were at the best clubs in the world at various points in their careers but not for the whole of it, yet through the "bad" times they stayed, depsite that all og them probably got plenty of big money offers from other clubs where they might have won more and made more money, and turned them down every time because succeeding at their hometown club meant more to them than money.

Not always, because to some like Totti, Shearer, Scholes, etc, there are more important things than money.
I'm sure that a lot of fans do try to live vicariously through players, and even more so with homegrown players because they feel more of a connection to them because they're from the area and they support the club too, but the biggest reason fans will "baaaaw how they shouldn't want more money" is because they support the club and always want what's best for it, and naturally that involves keeping their best players.
It also depends on the various factors involved.
For example, Leicester will be a top seed in the CL next year and will be reigning champions in the league, Arsenal won't. Its a sideways move at best and I'd imagine Leicester would be more than willing to match any offer Arsenal put forward. That said, £20m for a 29 year old striker who game relies on pace is a great deal for Leicester if they can replace him.
