What if every match in a season was ended in a 0-0 tie?
>>
Arsenal would finally win thanks to their name beginning with an A
>>
I think the league winner would be decided by fair play but idk
>>
>>68028238
AFC Bournemouth would win it
>>
In the Spanish league the teams would be ranked according to fair play criteria; i.e., the team with the least amount of yellow and red cards would win the league. No idea about foreign leagues.
>>
>They like a sport that allows ties

then it would be called marriage
>>
>>68028328
Not actually a sport if it thinks ties are okay, the whole point of playing is to beat the other team. If nobody wins, there's no point in playing in the first place.

i'd gate her tail.

Yeah, they'd finish second and Arsenal fans will celebrate

Pathetic desu
>>
>nobody answering correctly
what a disgusting bunch of plebs

It depends on the league. In the EPL they would all share the title. In La Liga there's a Fair Play tiebreaker and then head to head matches. So they could potentially keep playing forever without a champion if they keep tying without fouling each other.
>>
The team with more goals are declared winner.

>if every team scores the same amount of goals
Playoffs with closed gates and neutral field at least in EPL case.

Irrelevant, since that would never happen in a million years.

>that would never happen in a million years.
But it's still fucking possible, even when it's more likely for the Earth to be destroyed than for every soccer game in a season to end 0-0.

Just indulge in this what if question.

18-1 was so great, /sp/ itself was created. How can you not understand that?

How can you not understand how retarded it is?

how about make games go into overtime to prevent ties
>>
>>68028290
In the PL, teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. If still equal, teams are deemed to occupy the same position

Basically it's possible to have 2 or more champions

VERY long penalty shootout with all teams against a neutral goalie
>>
>>68028225
Who wins it all
>>
If this happened in the Portuguese league, there would be a single round tournament (with extra time and penalties if necessary) involving all the teams to decide in what position they end up in
>>
>>68041618
>Not having a penalty shootout with 5 players from each team vs a goalie from each team

Not really, dumbfuck. Overtime exists
>>
>>68041636

>>
>>68042805
Isn't the playoff for if only 2 teams are joint top?
>>
>>68042827
It doesn't have to be top, they do it for every position on the table. There was a chance it could have happened this year for the last Europe league spot.
>>
>>68042852
I mean, in the context of if X teams are joint top. Wouldn't the playoff be only for if X = 2? If X is 3 or more then having playoffs would be kinda hard.
>>
Has it ever happened where 2 teams had equal points, differential and goals?
>>
Coin flip
>>
>>68042880
As I said two posts up it NEARLY happened this year but it's so unlikely I don't think it ever has in the EPL.

>>68042874
These hypothetical are slightly disingenuous because it's essentially impossible that these scenarios will never occur. There reaches a point of so unlikely that it's fine to never u prepared for it. I'd assume they can just do a quick 3 team tournament with extra time and penalties if that did occur.
>>
>>68042880

This year in Ligue 2 the third and fourth had the same number of points and differential but the third scored only one more goal than the fourth

And the third place qualify you for Ligue 1...

OK here's clarification:

>Applies to determining champions, relegation, or European qualification
>can include two or more teams
>format is decided by board

So they can modify it to what they think fits best.

cross the border,Jorge. White women can't resist the BIG BROWN BURRITO
>>
Anyone good with math (statistics) that can give us a detailed explanation (that is, show your work) on: what are the probabilities of this happening in a league with 20 teams and 38 match days (classic format of playing home and away against each team in the league)?

>>68042908
>Coin flip
I guess this is right.
>>
>>68043438
It would be chance of draw x number of matches in the league

since one teams home game is another teams away game it doesn't really factor into it.
