That's not really the definition of famous, that's more like having a successful commercial profile with the internet demographic, (i.e. mainly young westerners) in a commercially successful sport/league.

Famous just means people know and recognise the person.
About 20% of the world are on social media. Of those only fanbois are actually going to follow someone.
Google searches are a bit more accurate but how much they get paid is not relevant.
