So you get these nice local ratings but terrible nationally televised ratings.
When your baseball team's season is over you stop watching. As opposed to the NBA where fans will continue to watch all the way regardless of if their team is in it or not.
Basketball fans are usually fans of players, not teams, and those players are usually in the playoffs.
