I think we can all agree that Football (American) is the sport where coaching is most tied to team success.
Unlike in soccer and basketball, the team with the best players doesn't win most of the games. Teams with great coaching and serviceable players can win divisions

Like I said earlier, coaches call nearly a hundred plays a game and they constantly change schemes and substitute players to look for matchups. You don't see soccer managers holding up signs and using dozens of coaches to watch the other team's formations

I agree for the most part, but Atletico Madrid has proven what an exceptional manager can do for a team below the quality standards of the elite. Someone will bring up Leicester and whilst it is a fantastic example, it's currently an anomaly.
Smaller teams with FA/League cup success are examples of well managed teams with well thought out game plans can beat larger teams, however it's much less likely to be successful over a 38 game season.
I think an exceptional manager can be a gigantic impact on football (sawker) teams, just there is only a handful of elite managers that for obvious reasons end up at elite teams. It would be interesting to see what would happen of Sir Alex Ferguson, Mourinho, etc would go to a midtable side but none of them are interested in doing so, perhaps they'll be afraid they'll be exposed.

So thats why in soccer, where there are no spending limits, the top teams are usually able to compete year after year.
in the NFL, the system is rigged so that doesnt happen, or at least they try to make it so with a draft system, salary cap, revenue sharing etc.
