The way I see it is, in La Liga goal difference is not used as a way of tiebreaking teams on equal points in the league. Instead they use a head-to-head system.
Sometimes teams like Real and Barca come out and knock 3 goals past Eibar or whoever in the first half. Then because goal difference doesn't exist there's no incentive to play at their best because they know they've already lost. That's why you see 6 or 7 nil victories more often in La Liga and so rarely in EPL.
It would also explain why top players in La Liga tend to score more goals than they would in other leagues. The quality of mid-low table teams isn't worse than EPL it's just there's no incentive. That's why you see teams like Sevilla winning the Europa league 3 times on the trot despite being mid table.
EPL is way more interesting to watch in my opinion, partly because of this. Don't expect them to ever change it to a goal difference tiebreak in La Liga, would ruin muh 6billion goals per season meme for players like Messi and Ronaldo.
