Mono or stereo never really mattered to me, so it'll come down to preference. However, their albums were recorded in mono and most of the time that's where most of the detail goes. Also, there's not a ton of changes between either mix unless you're listening to something like "I Am the Walrus".
You'd probably wouldn't find original vinyl copies of any of their stuff unless you're willing to pay out the ass. Same goes for buying vs. pirating, so probably pirate before you spend a ton of money on music you might not like.
