The Ribery meme existed because Bayern won the treble. No one would vote for Ibrahimovic over a treble winner.
It's impossible to say, you can't just give it to the 3rd placed player because Messi/Ronaldo existing largely affects team trophies.
For example, Xavi finished 3rd in 2011 largely because Barcelona won the league and the CL. But the CL would never have happened without Messi. Would all those people vote for Xavi without the CL win? Probably not. You'd pretty much have to create a million hypothetical Champions League scenarios to determine the winner.

Impossible to say. Without Messi Barca wouldn't have won all they have, so i don't think Xavi would have won any. Iniesta would probably have won 2010 because of the WC.

I literally said that I just listed the players who I think were the best in the world in those years except Messi/Ronaldo, not predicting what the voters would have done.
