You do realise how important this was for Spurs fans right? They were fuming when Poch said that he didn't care about finishing above Arsenal.

>Arsenal haven’t had a lot of joy in Europe over the years and Gunners fans will be hoping this sexy little number changes their fortunes next term
>>
>>67632551

There's a massive disconnect between the players and the fans. It couldn't be more obvious that their players simply did not give a fuck (except Kane I guess, since he's been a fan his whole life).
>>
>>67632563
No one has. We still want change.

We're allowed to be happy with the way things panned out.
>>
>>67632562
Here, I simply think we'll do better under Wenger than any other available coach.

>we choked away the title again, but look how sexy our clothes are omg i need to post this on instagram right now
>>
>>67632589
And that's supposed to be a good thing?

Look how it's ended up for them.

They should've played their hearts out, they should've been desperate to finish above us. They should've realised how big an achievement that would've been for the club and how much the fans would've loved it. But they were too weak and we pipped them yet again and their fans are absolutely fucking fuming.
>>
>>67632619
>And that's supposed to be a good thing?

Of course not. It's a horrible thing, that's the point. For all this "Together" shit they've been spouting on twitter, they don't give a shit. Eriksen, Alderweireld, and co. are all just going through one long interview for a job at one of the big clubs.
>>
The most frustrating thing about the new England squad is the discovery that people still regularly spell his name "Wiltshire".
>>
People laughing at Arsenal fans for celebrating finishing above Spurs don't seem to be noticing that the majority of Spurs fans are absolutely livid with the club about finishing below us again.

They're more angry about this than they are about losing the title.

This is just as big for them as it is for us.

That's how football rivalries work.
>>
Lads, I have decided that I can't be a true gooner without living in gooner territory. I have decided it is time to leave Memehampton and become a true gooner, hopefully bringing Koeman with me. I will move to North London, start a beautiful family, and become a staple Arsenal North London family Arsenal.

However, I'm a black yout. And I see that Islington is an extremely wealthy area in London. I can't afford that shit and I don't wanna be surrounded by posh cunts.

When people think of Arsenal in the 11/12 season, everyone seems to just go on about RVP and occasionally Song.

The reality is that Arteta was the clockwork behind that team that made everything tick. RVP was world class but without Arteta we probably wouldn't have finished top 4 even with Robin's goals.

Without Arteta, Song would've been shit. The reason Song had a good season is because he had a disciplined player next to him. Song was supposed to be a DM but he had no positional awareness and just liked to bomb forward like an idiot and fire long balls up the pitch, exposing us at the back. Occasionally these long balls worked and it looked spectacular, but Arteta was the one covering up for Song because he had no idea how to actually do his fucking job.

If it wasn't for Arteta, we would've been a much worse team, plus Song would've been an absolute liability and made us EVEN worse.

He's declined tactically, he doesn't know how to navigate a modern transfer market, he has a terrible case of favouritism, and he's way too stubborn.
>>
>>67633662

>>
>>67633650
>implying it wasn't all thanks to Wilshere
>>
>>67633682
Here's how Arsenal currently "navigate a modern transfer market":
1. Identify top talent (e.g Morata).
2. Wait until Madrid, Munich, City, United, Chelsea and PSG have made a decision.
3. If they all pass up the opportunity, buy the player. If they don't, then they'll buy the player because they're all more attractive clubs (bigger, more money, or both) than Arsenal.
4. With any left over money, identify a relatively cheap option that the analytics + scouting team + wenger see something in and buy.
5. If there are no such options, nobody who can improve the team, then buy nobody.

Please tell me how Arsenal should and realistically can improve on this.

Look I can't stand Wenger but it's to do with what he's achieving with the talent he's brought in (and the shit excuses he keeps making for himself). The transfer policy is fine.

What is going to happen to the united game lads? What are the permutations can they take 4th place trophy?
>>
>>67633771
>The transfer policy is fine.
NO IT'S FUCKING NOT.

We take fucking weeks, even months to sign players. We're practically the only club where EVERY SINGLE TRANSFER SAGA drags on and on. Podolski took fucking ages, Giroud took fucking ages, Cech took fucking ages, Ospina took fucking ages, even Welbeck and Ozil took fucking ages in the context of a deadline day.

We need to be identifying and signing talents as quickly as possible. We take ages. Look at fucking Higuain. Look at fucking Mata. We should've signed these guys and we didn't because we took ages.

Even when we sell players we make it drag on. Took ages to sell Fabregas and Nasri even though we always knew they were leaving and which club they were joining. Took ages to sell RVP. Took ages to sell Song. It's embarrassing.

And if we're not good enough to sign "top talent" anymore, then you hire a scouting team that can find lesser known talent. The likes of Leicester and Southampton have signed players for relatively cheap that would've done great here (Kante, Tadic, Van Dijk, etc).

You don't need to sign big names to build a successful team. You identify a style, you find players that fit the style and the role you want them to play, and you sign them. I don't care if we haven't heard of the player or if he's not currently playing at Real Madrid, I should be able to trust the the manager and the scouting team believe this player fits into the side.

And we can't even "identify top talents" anymore. When was the last time we identified a top talent? We look at top talents that everyone else already knows are top talents, and then act surprised when only 0.000001% of these top talents join us because we take so long to sign them and actual top clubs swoop them up.

It's a shambles.
>>
>>67634055
podolski was signed months before the transfer window even opened though
>>
>>67633471
Oh yeah, I remember this. It was the right call for a pen, but I remember MOTD going on about how the assistant ref shouldn't have made the call despite being right.
>>
Does anyone else wish Arsenal was ran like Bayern?

The season isn't even over yet and they already have a new manager and 2 big signings confirmed. Meanwhile, we'll get 3 months of bullshit rumours followed by the signing of Saido Berahino and an unknown Ligue 2 youngster on the deadline day.
>>
>>67634394

>>
>>67634394
Wenger's last season

it will be a failure, we'll be more productive then
>>
>>67634086
It still took fucking ages.

About 6 months of rumours and Podolski flirting with us and Mertesacker saying he was talking to Podolski and all this other shit before we actually signed him.
>>
>>67634394
I see what you're saying but I genuinely do not care about the size of the name of the player.

I just want a clear style to be identified by the club for the team to scout players that play in that specific role. If the scouting team find a literally who and he fits into our plans perfectly then fucking sign him up. He doesn't have to be a big name, he doesn't have to play for a big club.
>>
>>67633997
If they win by like 18-0 or some shit
>>
>>67634055

Is that always the best way to do things, though? Look at Liverpool last summer. They identified their targets well in advance, didn't worry too much about the cost, had all of their major signings wrapped up by June.....and the team was still shit.
>>
>>67634520
I didn't exactly mean the "size" of the transfers but the manner in which they're done. It's mid-May and the club is ready for the next season. Clean and 100% professional.

Now compare it to our transfer sagas like Suarez or Higuain.

I still think that iwobi & Ozil moving on to a bigger club is a win/win, we get a good price for them and they get to go on and win the trophys they deserve can't believe people disagree

>>67633475
Even though Arteta turned to shit on the field he's always been great in interviews and for the club outside of games. Can see why the players respect him. Really great person, hope he does well

Where the fuck did this meme come from? He played like 15 1st team games in his entire career and suddenly he's some hot transfer target for clubs bigger than Arsenal?

This is worse than Liverpool fans being afraid that Barcelona will sign Coutinho.

To be fair to pulis, gnabry's 1 appearance was woeful

Yeah, I did watch that. If there was ever a case of trying too hard to impress then that was it. He also played in the league cup once.

But considering the players ahead of him were Sessengon (dunno how to spell it), McClean, some other shit guys and Berahino in the worst form of his life, it was harsh that Pulis never gave him a proper chance. Made me wonder why he even took him on loan in the first place.

dude, in the last 2 seasons >we had the FA cup as a consolation prize for continuing to remain indelibly arsenal in the PL/CL, where 4th place trophies and "making it out of your CL group" was "enough" to keep the gravy train going for all the arsenalites who <3 playing for a "big" / "top" side but don't have any REAL pressure to step up and realize their potential and win some PROPER silverware.

thats why when the CL RO16 matchup is easy and/or arsenal is sitting top of the table around christmas that you KNOW they're going to find a way to fuck it all up. they don't handle pressure well at all.

HOWEVER

when things look really bleak and they're threatening to drop out of the top-4/CL entirely and/or finish below spurs, thats when you KNOW the lads are going to realize that the gravy train is about to get derailed so they'll wake up and play some proper football until they do JUST... enough to keep the top-4/CL + making it thru the CL group standard alive and well.

with no FA cup as a proper consolation prize this season arsenal fans turned to st. totteringham's day to be the proper consolation prize for another "same ol arsenal" season, and given that this was probably the best spurs side in a long time it was prolly one of the most legit st. totteringham's days in recent memory (IMO the final week of the 12-13 season where arsenal had to win/out to pip the final CL/4th-place spot from spurs = just a notch bigger since that st. totteringham's day ultimately decided who goes to the CL and who doesn't)

>TLDR = this st. totteringham's day replaced the FA cup as the #1 consolation prize for arsenalites and therefore >we as a whole enjoyed the fuck out of it since it seemed like a veritably impossible thing as recently as a few weeks ago. nobody REALLY celebrates 2nd place as a de-facto trophy, even if it IS arsenal's best finish since 03-04 or 04-05 or something.

hell didn't arsenal fi
>>
>>67643174

AHEM. hell, didn't arsenal finish with a higher point total (than this season's 71) in either 13-14 or 14-15? i wanna say one of thsoe two was a ~69 point final tally, but yeha, it's not like arsenal had their best season in years or anything.... it's JUST... that given the way this season played out st. totteringham's day was able to be a consolation prize for fans who likely don't "dare to dream" for a team that inexorably ends up being the "same ol arsenal"

there was an iranian messi? last " [country] messi" i remember was "egyptian messi" aka mohamed salah, and IIRC liverpool wanted him bad so chelsea scooped him and quickly realized they had no use for him outside of fucking with liverpool, so he ended up in serie A where he was halfway decent in the first half of 15-16.

who's iranian messi tho?

well at least he's got the OG messi-esque hair down... go figure when i went to look him up the article this image came from was titled LIVERPOOL TRANSFER RUMORS...

i guess if you put "messi" with any nationality as a qualifier liverpool is ready to shell out a few bucks so they can at least develop another suarez for the johnny-come-latelies atop euro football
>>
>>67643997

ok well i confess to not following serie A all that closely so all i remember of post-chelsea-salah is that i saw his name in headlines a few times in late/ish 2015 and he seemed to be availing himself pretty nicely after his career had a little handbrake applied by chelsea, who is always keen to remind teams like LFC and spurs that they can only get players if chelsea doesn't want them (see: willian)

>34/14 for roma in serie A this season

yeah hey maybe that is worth a proper courtroom battle cuz call it a hunch fiorentina could really use ~15 league goals to help out their cause of making it back to the CL.

is roma able to hold on to developing/burgeoning players like salah, or is he likely on his way to a bigger side cuz roma isn't seen as any sort of a destination for top quality footballers?
