You can keep posting those but frankly if you hadn't noticed, no one is buying it

If you really in your heart of hearts think JBJ isn't a great fielder you are a lost cause, another victim of saberfaggotry. Your dick is so far up Billy Beane's ass it's incredible
>>
>>67565241
No shit? Eaton is thriving as a RF.

I'm not even the other anon, he should be the RF for the ASG to this point because he's been fabulous.

But calling JBJ a bad CF is RETARDED.

>le roids argument

oh ok so you're just discrediting him because you don't like him for whatever reason

Lol, and JBJ has 40 points on his BA and .200 on his OPS

Pointless statement, prove it or leave it out

>>67565241
Eaton is a RF and JBJ a CF,

why the hell are you guys arguing about these two fielders that play two different positions?
>>
>>67565271
Because this canadian faggot started claiming Eaton was a better fielder than JBJ
>>
Has Luis Severino already become another former Future Next Great Yankee? How long do Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge have before they suffer this fate of becoming formerly future elite players?
>>
>>67565271
Eaton is still officially a CF, actually
>>
>>67565290
literally who: the post
>>
>>67565252
I'm not saying he's a bad CF, but he's not elite either
he's had a shift in philosophy more towards hitting and hitting for power, and he's sacrificed some of his defense for it. Even last year, most of his defensive value was in games he played in RF and LF

>>67565263
ok it doesn't have to be roids but he's changed his game, for the better clearly

it's probably roids though
>>
>>67565287
this year he statistically is you dumbass

your argument is literally JBJ has better career numbers despite them being irrelevant in 2016 all star selection discussion
>>
>>67565325
>but he's not elite either
His career numbers are elite

I dont get this stupidity you keep spouting.
>>
>>67565337
his numbers for 1 (one) season are elite
>>
>>67565344
Because he's really only ever played 1 season fully, and he was elite in it. Very elite.

He barely scratched 200 innings last year, and again put up great numbers.

This year he's not been as great, but it's only fucking May
>>
>>67565333
Yeah and this year statistically JBJ shits all over Eaton

Do you really think anyone would pick Eaton over JBJ because of one error? Grow the fuck up

As in "exactly his numbers since 2013 for the time he's played have been fantastic"?

Because that's what his fangraphs page indicates.

Eaton is undoubtedly a better player than JBJ, and the team with the best record in the AL probably deserves one player starting in the field.

as in his numbers for CF in 2013, 2015 and 2016 are anything but elite
granted all three are small sample size, but the fact remains that he was only elite in one season
>>
>>67565383
Prove it? How hard is it to look up a batting like you fucking autist?

You're grasping for straws at this point, I think you should just quietly stop now

JBJ:
4th overall BA/SLG/OPS
3rd overall RBI
1st in triples

Eaton doesn't even register in the top 10

The disparity is enormous

>The other thing to remember is that DRS isn’t going to work well in small sample sizes, especially a couple of months or less. Once you get to one and three-year samples, it’s a relatively solid metric but defensive itself is quite variable so you need a good amount of data for the metrics to become particularly useful. There’s plenty more to say about this issue, but that’s for another entry. In general, DRS isn’t perfect because it doesn’t factor in shifts, positioning, and can’t perfectly measure everything it needs to, but it’s still among the best options out there.
>>
>>67565547
so you use a 24 game sample size, and purposefully ignore his good metrics

I'm sure a reasonable manager would do the same thing

at least follow the flow of the discussion here

I didn't include his good season because I acknowledged earlier that he was in fact elite one season. but just one season, which proves nothing about his overall career fielding being elite.

The fact that he's now going on two straight seasons of not elite play at CF, even with small sample sizes, indicates to me that he may not be elite anymore as he decided to focuse on other things, if he is still elite in CF he hasn't shown it
>>
>>67565613
tbqh with you Joe I don't think John Farrell is a good manager.

John Farrell is not the best manager in baseball, but he certainly isn't incompetent

2014 they lost Ellsbury. They signed Piershitski who proceeded to suck dick as usual and let Salty go. They brought in Sizemore who added to his embarassing shit underachieving career. Dempster gone for the season, resigning Drew and Napoli who were both god awful, and then fire sale gave up on the season.

2015: Hanley is a dumpster fire for whatever reason. Sandoval isn't much better. Lost Lester, replaced with Porcello, who again, sucks. Trade Middlebrooks for Hannigan (uhg). Trade Cespedes (UHG).

Farrell had nothing to do with the last two seasons, the GM was to blame.

>>
>>67565877
I have a lot of things to address in this post but am too tired to write out a lengthy response, so I'll put it this way before going to sleep:

He's incompetent as an in-game manager. We haven't ad the proper personnel (obviously), but he has routinely made terrible decisions as an in-game manager for the past two years. And if you don't think his over-extending on players like Victorino, Sanodfatass, and Napoli and refusal to play guys like Shaw or Holt over them isn't the most glaring, egregious displays, then I can't help you.

Bring this up again some other time, I'd love to go over it.
>>
>>67565877
>the potential GOAT defensive outfield of Cespedes, JBJ and Mookie in Fenway
the only OF hits would be off the Monster

but it wasn't worth getting Cespedes for Lester. Lester was part of the old guard, man. And he was our only reliable starter, period.
>>
>>67565907
Hey, I agree to some of it, but you know he couldn't start Shaw and Holt (and Nava more often) instead of his superstars. You never know when a player might return to their regular play, and 99% or the time it is the right thing to do. Honestly, it was a real perfect storm of nobody doing their jobs, Farrell can't take all the blame for Napoli hitting below the mendoza line, he just has to find his swing again, etc. And btw there he is now back to his good ol' self right now. Fuck you Napoli.
