There's a difference between allegation, charge and adjudication. Sandusky has been adjudicated. Spanier, Curley and Schultz have were charged but not adjudicated. Paterno and all of the other stuff that's coming up in court lately are allegations.

If Joe Pa were still alive he would be either 1) in prison or 2) constantly going to court and destroying his reputation further. Gtfo.

I was arrested for cocaine possession in college and the charges were dropped because the reason the police pulled me over was bullshit. Doesn't mean I didn't have an 8 ball on me.

Face it. Joe Pa put football over the safety of children. That's fucked. There's a special place in hell for Joe Pa.

I went to Penn State, people straight up don't believe victims. They just assume that they are trying to "Assassinate Joe Pa's character". I think the irony of the new allegations is that the current reaction pretty much mirrors the alleged reaction Joe Pa had in 1971. I will never understand why people are more concerned with a dead man's legacy than a alleged rape victim. If Penn State was really "FTK" I'm positive where their priorities would lie.

>>
i've always been of the opinion that the idea of punishing the school after everyone involved has already been punished, removed, and/or is dead is absurd

i don't understand the logic behind that and furthermore i don't understand how the ncaa has jurisdiction to do something about a criminal activity in the first place, we're not talking about academic irregularities, we're talking about actual crime that the law handles

once sandusky, paterno, the three officials, and anyone else involved after investigation were removed that should've been the end of the sanctions, the black eye everything caused is deterrent enough
>>
>>67463275

great strategy
>>
>>67463428
fire (them) and put (them) in jail for any crimes and have the most legendary coach in school history completed dressed down to nothing while the media and fanbase across the country and world absolutely crucifies you and recruits decommit left and right and your fans are too ashamed to show up to games much less wear the gear in public

then yes we can't get punished anymore
>>

>into Penn

>>
>>67463275
so an organization can do whatever the fuck they want and never be punished for breaking the law as long as they remove the people that did wrong-doing once they get caught.

Apply this logic to law-breaking throughout history. What kind of place would we live in?
>>
>Joe Paterno had his statue removed because he knew, like many of the other staff at the school, that child torture was going on and they got away with it because of the fucking loser mentality hero-worshiping they do in Penn State. That school should have been punished harsher for what they fucking did to those children. It was a collective denial by that football worshiping faggot town that it wasn't a conspiracy and more people should have been lynched.

has anybody actually read this most recent allegation

it's some dude recounting a phone call from 40 years ago saying it was joe paterno on the phone telling him he'll call the police if he keeps talking

i mean i'm sure paterno knew about all this shit in some form or fashion but this particular story seems like some cock-and-bull tall tale, the guy even makes reference that joe's dead so he can't question or face him
>>
>>67463773
well ideally if the organization removes every corrupt person that was involved with the crime itself or the coverup, the specific crime addressed should of course not occur again
>>
What's there not to be appalled about? I saw an article in which the current President Penn State was 'appalled' by new allegations. No, his first response should be solidarity with the victims.

Don't get me wrong. The NCAA is one of the more sanctimonious organizations on the face of the planet, but there sanctions should have stuck.

If Southern Miss. can be irreparably damaged by the NCAA death penalty, so should Penn State.
>>
>>67463846
no but I thought it said he was awarded a settlement from pedo state. was that recently or was it that long ago because if it was long ago that is the school admitting they knew this whole time
>>
>>67463892
*methodist

and yeah yeah the victims first whatever this is 4chan and it's anonymous, no one gives a fuck about the victims and we don't have to pretend like we do here.

back to the point ncaa's hands are tied regardless of what happens now, unless someone currently employed at the university was involved and the decisionmakers knew they were involved and kept them employed i don't think the ncaa can punish penn state again

Actual PSU fan here.

I talked with my grandmother about the scandal before she passed away. She was (as the local papers called them) a "JoeBot" and literally defended Paterno to her grave. She explained to me that people in her generation had a different world view than us, that things that are commonplace now were unbelievable to them then. She, for example, didn't know that gays existed until she met my grandfather in the 50s. It was just something that seemed unreal to them. Likewise, things like child sex abuse were always hushed by most, not because they were hiding the allegations, but because it seemed unreal that such things were happening. Call it a symptom of the "simpler time" or a more Christian-based worldview overall, but it was an absurd thing to hear for people of the time.

Thus, she believed Joe handed off the 90s case, following protocol based on his role, because he wasn't comfotable with accepting such things could happen. Joe was wrong for not handling the situation himself (he even admitted he should have done more) and would have been able to sink Sandusky himself because of his influence). Did he knowingly cover up for a former coach (who he didn't even really get along with... possibly because of his behavior)? We'll never know. Public perception seems to be that he did just that, but again, he's dead and cannot testify on said scandal.

Her angle on it was interesting to say the least, and I'm glad I actually got to discuss the scandal with someone approximately Joe's age. Draw whatever conclusions you want, I just figured her thoughts may shed some light on the entire situation.

As for the 70s allegations, they are just that at this point, allegations. If Joe truly knew about the abuse in the 70s and covered it up then, than I do believe his legacy would be forever tarnished as a legendary teacher of morals.

Reminder that if College Sports wasn't a religion amongst red necks this never would have happened

Death penalty should have happened when the sanctions were handed out. NCAA lost any bit of credibility they had left at that point. And the worst part is all of the Penn St apologist fans defending muh JoePa and muh tradition.
