the problem is that we have no farm

with GRich injured, how much longer is Mike Trout going to want to be on a team that is doing absolutely nothing? if we couple him with Pujols, we can realistically get 1 other young MLB ready/already going player and maybe 2 good prospects

I never understood this. It was an obviously terrible idea from the beginning. How could Analslime's GM be so retarded that he'd willingly cripple his team for a decade?
>>
>>67394030
I'm aware of how good he was dude. But he wouldn't have touched Aaron's stats. It's not like Aaron was just a power hitter either, he still had 240 stolen bases and was a good fielder with a great arm. Barry would've started declining by his mid 30's instead of doubling his power numbers putting him well out of reach of Aaron's numbers and Barry had one of the worst arms ever to play the outfield

Also Willie Mays is his godfather not his grandfather dummy
>>
>>67394105
Phillies could do it. Move Herrera or Trout to right, Cut Pujols because who the fuck are they paying.

But, they aren't in the market of moving their own pieces

It was always a bad arm, senpai. The retard who said it was one of the worst ever is dead wrong though. It was just a typical LF arm. But his actual fielding abilities were insanely elite, The only reason he wasn't a gold gloce CF was the arm.

I read somewhere that that's more of a suggestion or a general guide than a rule. Some parks that "violate" it anyways have really high fences in the parts where it's shorter, so it's not like those parks are easy to hit home runs in

What pisses me off the most is when they look at where the catcher holds the pitch to attempt framing it. Who fucking cares where the catcher catches it. Call the pitch by where it crosses the plate.
>>

Umpires are having the same problem as referees in the NBA which is that they get these big egos and act bigger than the game.

No one cares who you are or what your "style" of calls are, you're expected to be an objective judge of the rules and let the players play instead of making it all about yourself

>>
>>67399951
While I agree with you, I don't think it applies to officiating. You need unbiased and neutral calls. No emotion involved whatsoever. You can toss people if theyre being faggots but don't let it dictate how you make calls.
>>
>>67399951
What a horrendous fucking analogy you absolute fucking moron.

Leave it to a fucking leaf.

You know why? Because when you get pulled over by the cops, you PROBABLY DID SOMETHING WRONG. Ortiz had strikes called against him (and in a cumulation of strikeouts to Holt, Vazquez, Hanley, and the entire fucking team) that were utter bullshit.

He had a right to complain. Would it help him? No. But his complaining shouldn't be held against him. Especially when the next fucking pitch is not supposed to be based off any reaction or strike prior.

You absolute fucking dumbshit. Ya, him chimping didn't fucking help. But for you to equate that to disrespecting a cop when getting pulled over...

Are you literally retarded?

I mean, yeah, the call was shit. But low strikes are called all the time, and you don't get a smaller strike zone when you yell at the the umpire.

"Reputation calls" are all fine and well when in a contact sport and you see a repeat diver or dirty player dive or stick someone

A home plate umpire should not be changing balls and strikes because he wants to show someone up. The game is too pure for that.

You don't hear much about it but he gave a lot of dogshit calls to the Yankees too. Awful umpire.

Typically umpires even out for both teams over the course of a game but it shouldn't be this way, they shouldn't be this bad.

Well your picture didn't really represent this article. It was fairly close to the lower half of the zone. I honestly don't know why I'm arguing with you though because umpires have been as bad as humanly possible. It really brings the possibility of machines calling balls/strikes that more viable.

As a fan of a team who sees reputation calls go against them all the time I don't mind it.

Bautista bitched about every called strike last year and had a bigger zone because of it. This year he keeps his mouth shut and the strike zone has been reasonable.

If you are looking to keep the purity of the game the best way is to show the divas that they have to show respect or see consequences.

And it WASNT JUST THE RED SOX

The Yankees had the same issues with their players getting pissed too.

Kulpa was fucking terrible.
>>
>>67400205

I don't think it was *that* harshly. I've seen games where that pitch was a strike all night long. Last year the bottom of the strike zone was at the goddamn shins for most of the season.

It was a ball, yes, but it's a ball that's called a strike quite a bit in this league and umps are humans and are biased and shitty just like the rest of us, so you're not doing yourself any favors when you shout in their face. Even umps who try not to be affected by that shit probably will be - it's how human brains work.

Robot umps are the only real solution.
