If it were up to me it would be 5 on 5 soccer. No headers, no offsides, no slide tackling, smaller field and smaller goal. Also, 4 timeouts, 60 minute games, 4 quarters, no stoppage time, and unlimited substitutions. I would Americanize the shit out of soccer. More scoring means more excitement imo. futsal is football on a handball court. it's not a natural development, the posts are way too small, looks cramped, shots are basically shot and hope it gets in somehow. not a bad sport overall but they should modify the court size and posts. if it were to be designed from scratch i don't think they would settle for such a small court and posts, but like i said they play on handball courts basically, which are very common on europe, school gyms are basically handball courts over here.

Instead of 11 players, 5, but allow substitutions any time. Allow the players the use of hands. Raise the net to about 10 feet from the ground. Play in hardwood.
all the other "european flavors" aside, the one thing that gets to me more than anything else is the comparative lack of lead changes, and the fact that the game itself lacks a way for one score to bring a team from losing to winning. instead, you can only go from losing to tying, or tying to winning with one score. yeah, the away goals rule lets that happen, but thats because of the nature of the competition (the champions league, for example) and not because of the sport itself. football, baseball, and basketball all have a way to go from losing to winning with one score, but soccer doesn't. neither does hockey, but the game is so fast paced that it makes up for it.
Instant replay x3 times each match, a right call from the manager (meaning the ref was wrong) doesn't count as one of the three.
Implement fines for diving, 80% of the fine to be paid by the player and 20% by the club.
