For those unknowing, the Sox motto that year was "All in" and after a ton of hype even projected to run away with the division, they finished like 3 under .500, 13 games behind , without even a chance for postseason contention by September.

I was at the 2008 blackout game. I remember his first few years with the team when he was good. He wasn't always bad and he was never a cocky or unlikeable player.
I get that he has tanked miserably since his injury and surgery. I also get that most of you are teenagers who have only seen him play like shit. But he was a genuinely good guy and it's sad to see his career with the Sox end this way.

I've met him before. Told this story a couple times in game threads but when me and my team worked at the Cell in concessions we would illegally park in the player's parking lot.
One fireworks night we were hurrying to clean up and get out of the park before the fireworks (since the players parking lot is right under where they launch them, the lot gates were locked for safety reason). I get that he makes a lot of money and that it mitigates a lot of what has gone on.
But he's still a person who's career has gone down in flames. I'd feel the same way about a doctor or scientist who crashed and burned trying to do what they love. Yes, they made a lot of money but it still probably upsets them greatly.
