Ugh I can just imagine the hoards of Hamilton defense force members if Rosberg wins the championship, there will be a permanent autist asterisk of BUT ROSBERG HAD GREAT LUCK AND HAMILTON WAS COMPROMISED AND THERE WAS A CONSPIRACY TO MAKE HIM CHAMPION if Hamilton had a good car he would have dominated, rosberg isn't deserving blah blah

I'd be interested in those stats, but somewhat more interesting would be to see F1 WDC statistics if the 'non-championship' races from the 50s to 80s were included as point scoring rounds.
Fangio, for example, had 24 F1 World Championship race wins, but a total of 39 F1 race wins, if we include non-championship results.

There are 8 Mercedes powered cars in the grid. So far, only one of these cars had ending related problems. And it happened more than once. Conveniently that car is also the car of probably the best driver on the grid who won the last 2 WDCs dominantly.
Its a bit far fetched to call that a coincidence.

Also, FUN FACT:
The first Grand Prix Season Championship in consisted of only 1 race, the 1906 French Grand Prix in Le Mans. The track was pretty different to the one we know today. The race lasted over 12 hours. The best lap time was 52:25.4. The race was 12 laps long and covered 1,238.16 km. The winner was also the first champion: hungarian Ferenc Szisz, followed by italian Felice Nazzarro, who would become champion the following season and again 12 years later, in 1922.

>>67230668
Looks better then the halo design.
>>67230782
The halo looks even worse yeah. I don't see the point really, Jules was an anomaly, it's not the norm, it's not enough reason to go nuts with regulations.
They may as well just replace F1 with touring cars or something.
>>67230919
I think it was Justin Wilson's death that caused this change more than Jules'. I don't think any sort of car protection would have saved Jules and everyone knows it.
I'm kind of on the fence about it. On one hand, they are pretty ugly and I think danger is part of the sport. On the other hand, it is kinda shitty to just be driving along and all of a sudden BAM you're hit by a nose cone or a piece of debris like Massa in 2009. Since Massa's incident was the only one to happen in F1 and it was a one time event, I think I'd have to lean towards keeping the cockpits open
So they cancelled the Indy Car race in Boston next year. Might just end it now tbqh lads
>>67229194
Also a Vettel penalty, and he's starting next to Kyvat.
Couldn't have really asked for a better quali result to be honest.

Hinchcliffe got hit in the head by debris as well
http://espn.go.com/racing/story/_/id/10914410/james-hinchcliffe-concussion-debris-hits-head-grand-prix-indianapolis
>>67232242
Would the halo even had helped Massa? Seems like it's specifically designed with tyres and large objects in mind. At least the aeroscreen could be an aerodynamic element and still actually deflect pointy sharp things at some angles and smaller debris. Though I understand that all additions will add drag.
If we absolutely _must _ increase head protection I don't see how someone could prefer the halo design. And I certainly don't understand how the FIA doesn't. How much more testing has the halo even had? Wasn't that the problem?
>>67232368
>>67232415
Those weren't F1 though, the regulations and conditions aren't the same. Why I wouldn't consider Wilson's accident to be completely relevant to F1, but I get why people see them as possible dangers.
>>67232492
Yeah the halo design is complete trash in my opinion, the aeroscreen is the only viable option.
>>67232608
>Those weren't F1 though, the regulations and conditions aren't the same.
That doesn't matter.
"Thing hits helmet" is the same in whatever opencockpit car you are in.
And the FIA are looking to make the solution go down to a grassroot level and is working with IndyCar as well for them.
>>67232688
Yeah but F1 has tire cords that keep the tires attached to the car specifically to prevent that and there hasn't been many flying tires on track since then. And when was the last time you saw a whole nose cone fly up in the air while the rest of the field goes by at ~200mph in an F1 race?
Indycar should have this as well as every junior open wheel series, but they don't have the money or pressure that F1 has to implement it so they have to be the pioneers unfortunately.
>>67232608
Go to 1:54 in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc6tCzfSdhU

It's not about the car that the driver that gets hit is in, of course that doesn't matter. It's about the conditions of the whole event. You see much more debris flying around in an Indycar race, plus the field is bunched up and at constantly high speeds on ovals. Junior series don't have the same technology or regulations that stop debris from coming off the car that F1 does. Yes, it can happen in F1, it happened to Massa, it just doesn't happen often at all.

This sentiment is moronic: ou might as well say drivers don't need fire retardant suits anymore, since refueling has been banned and the likelihood of catching fire in the cockpit is extremely low as well.
>>67233388
Nice logic. The only way that would be true is if we already had canopies and I wanted to get rid of them now
>>67233462
Not only that, but the danger of fire to the drivers is much more likely. See Kimi in Australia. I wouldn't bother arguing with him

I wouldn't mind Imola coming back to F1 instead of Monza desu. It's still a classic track and the change they made a few years ago in the start/finish straight was great. It's already under FIA regulations too. It will always be my favorite track on F1 Challenge.

my dad was always a very pessimistic person. Feeling lightheaded? Heart problems. Break a window? You are gonna bleed to death. Don't play near that edge, you're gonna fall and break your neck. Be careful around dogs, they will bite you and you will catch rabies. That kind of stuff. He was always wrong though, I never broke my neck or catched rabies (yet, anyway)
He was watching the race and saw the crash. 'Killed himself' he said. It was the only time he was ever right

I always loved getting the chicanes on Imola right in F1:CE.
You could fly through with so much lovely speed

WSBK races on Imola this weekend. We had Race 1 today, and Race 2 is coming up tomorrow at 13:00 GMT+1
And yes, it's a godly track.
