What's life like in a gray state? Like if you live in Idaho or West Virginia or something, what's that like?
>>
>>67184403
North Dakota fag here. We tend to cheer for the nearest team in the sports we actually care about. Most of my friends are Vikings fans, Twins fans, and Wild fans.

But, you still have a large population that sides with the teams they identify with the most. There's a strong Broncos and Cowboys following here.

Basketball is pretty irrelevant up here, so those who actually care about the sport pick teams that they like for a variety of reasons (see: Heat, Celtics, Lakers).
>>
>>67184403
>Missouri
because fuck basketball

anyway, most of the grey states are super into college football
>>
>>67185506
Is college football as big in the northern plain states as it is in the south? Or do people mostly follow pro teams?
>>
>>67185899
The B1G 10 and the SEC are pretty much the same big deal in their regions. Midwest south
>>
>>67184403
>new jersey

Any way, strange how all the the states that are 1 or 2 have a basketball team.
>>
>>67185899
Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State all average over 99k in attendance. (PSU is weighing down that number average, they all have 100k+ seat stadiums)
>>
>>67186344
Those aren't plains states though, they're industrialized Great Lakes states. (and half of Michigan is just unpopulated forest)
>>
>>67184403
What teams did Iowa and So. Carolina have?
>>
>>67184403
>Idaho

Low crime, low blacks, too many Mormons, too many Mexicans, too many Californians, good outdoor recreation, good bars, good economy. Don't move here.
>>
WV here. People usually like Cincinatti or Pittsburgh teams. Or they just pick a random team across the country. Personally, I go with DC.
>>
>>67186516
Probably basketball teams that moved 50 years ago

What team were in Nebraska Kentucky Iowa and South Carolina? Also the Chiefs and Royals are in Nebraska I thought
>>

Damn, I forgot. Doesn't really count though.
>>

according to wikipedia for Iowa:

Tri-Cities Blackhawks, NBL, NBA (now the Atlanta Hawks)1946–1951
>>

It's... okay. You can reasonably travel for weekend games, but seeing the Celtics or Sox on a weeknight is probably getting you home way too late.

Providence College basketball has some following.

There's amateur beisbol in Pawtucket and college ball in Newport.
>>
>>67187712
Kentucky Colonels were in the ABA if that's what they're counting. Louisville Greys or something like that were a major league team in like the 1800's. One day maybe we'll be major again.
>>
The UP of Michigan is kinda weird because it's a 8-10 hour drive to Detroit but only 2-5 to Green Bay so it's almost entirely Packers fans. Plus there's really no basketball or baseball fans, and most people support the local Division 1 hockey team (Northern, Lake Superior St., or Michigan Tech).
>>
>>67184403
>hockey
>major sport
>>
Maine here we follow teams from florida
>>
>>67184403
alaska fag here. its good i guess cause you're basically an unrestricted free agent as far as picking sports teams.

this does however lead to a lot of bandwagoning.
theres a shitload of seattle seahawks fans here and i just want to punch every one of them.
same with blackhawks but not to the same extent.

I live in WV

No crime, 97% white, low cost of living, low property taxes. WVU football and basketball for fun times. Lots of good food. Nature EVERYWHERE. Within hours of a ton of major cities. I can be in NY or Chicago in 8 hours tops or I can enjoy peace and quiet.

Feels good man, I love it here.

love my state (virginia) but sometimes i do wish i lived somewhere with their own sports teams. having to bandwagon just doesn't feel organic, no matter how long you've been a fan ;_;
and it fucking sucks being around bandwagoners. literally everyone here is a steelers/cowboys/current-best-nba-player fan
>>
>>67185506
plus you get the people who latch onto UND or NDSU tighter than most college fans and their happiness in life literally depends on how the schools do. Which is why the schools are jokes education wise and why the news is gonna be non-stop fucking Wentz for the next 2 months
>>
>>67188282
boy you crazy as fuck.
west virginia has the lowest education scores, highest unemployment rate, 7th highest poverty rate, and the 3rd lowest average life expectancy in the country. the only state worse than WV is fucking mississippi, which is literally the ethiopia of america

Sorry to burst your bubble buddy but the "New York" Giants and Jets actually play in the great state of New Jersey. The third team is the Devils but they don't really have any fans.

What state is going to change colors when this pathetic excuse for a team moves? It's too bad OKC has an elite AAA stadium that isn't expandable.
>>
RI here. Basically a far Boston suburb (1 hour drive, little longer on a train). Actually I don't think I'm any further from Foxboro than Boston is. There's a couple minor league teams as well so that's nice.
>>

What's the 4th one?
>>
>>67188453
Do people in the US support schools other than those they attended? I can imagine they support big NFL teams outside their cities because bandwagoning outside but supporting a school you didn't go to is weird as hell, would be like following a local amateur club here when you live 100 miles away
>>
>>67188286
I was under the impression people in Virginia mostly supported the Washington teams
>>
>>67184403
Rhode Island, local sports are shit, but its two hours on the train to New York.

Most of the cucks here spend 500 bucks for and evening with Foxboro or Fenway tickets -- I take day trips down to Queens for Mets games for half the price.

I'm in Delaware and it's basically like living in Pennsylvania. I am closer to the Linc to see games than most Eagles fans to be very honest.

/sp/ often makes the mistake of assuming fanbases = states.

What's life like in the purple states? How do you deal with all the mexicans?
>>
you follow college sports and it's really not much different, the quality is way lower but at least you're cheering for a university instead of a corporation

>>
>>67198288

In Northern VA everyone goes for DC teams. In southern VA, outside of Richmond, a surprising amount of people go for Carolina teams, especially the Panthers.
>>
>>67184403
Idaho here. We normally cheer for teams like the Utah Jazz, the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Mariners, and Boise State (although I went to Idaho State, which is FCS).
>>

Florida now but I used to live in Alabama

College football is all of sports for the entirity of the college season. You pick Auburn or Alabama and then nothing else matters.

Everyone is a braves fan, only like 2hr drive away to turner field for most.

NFL most people are saints fans but there is a growing amount of falcons fans and sprinkle in some titans.

Basketball:LOL

People that watch/play soccer usually just pick some eplel team since that is the only league that gets shown on tv down there.
>>
Colorado masterrace reporting in. We literally have a team for every professional sport in existence (women's sports obviously don't count), including one of the most storied and respected NFL franchises.

>>
Kansas needs updated. It should be yellow. Sporting KC is a MLS team based in Wyandotte county.
>>
>>67195866
Yes they do. And it's not weird here because most people grow up as fans of the closest ncaa team and just stay as their fans. Plus schools are just as famous as pro teams
>>
>>67195866
Other than school they attended, some people will support the schools near where they live/grew up and maybe the schools their family/friends went to, but that's about it. I don't see many people jumping on bandwagons or supporting schools they have no connection to whatsoever other than high school faggots who just want to look cool.
>>
>>67184403
North Dakota is Minnesota country, just less faggy
>>
VA here

We're all Washington and easily make the drive up for games. Except for the niggers who are all Cowboys fans for no reason other than the colors looked cool as starter jackets.

Also college football and bball are big here.
>>

a state where the soccer exceeds much in popularity, baseball, football, hockey and basketball together.

>>
>Kansas
I live in a Kansas side suburb of Kansas City, so it feels like I have three professional teams within a half-hour drive.
>>
>>67203323
No where, honestly. Probably spic and hipster states have the biggest amount of soccer fans. California, New Mexico, Texas and hipster cities throughout the country.

There ARE a lot of soccer fans here, but nothing like NFL, NBA, MLB etc
>>
>>67203323
It's not the most popular sport in any state. Cities like Seattle and Kansas City seem to have pretty sizable soccer fans though.
>>
>>67203073

Well does anyone actually live in DC? It seems like most people live in places like Alexandria and Arlington in VA etc and commute in, I guess the same goes for people living in southern Maryland if they don't want to support any dirty ass Baltimore teams
>>
>>67203597
and what city in California, soccer is the most popular sport?

and what city in Texas, soccer is the most popular sport?
and what city in New Mexico soccer is the most popular sport?
>>
>>67203323
Washington (Seattle) and Oregon (Portland) are probably the closest. I'd say that's partly because those cities only have one or two major sports teams and also because they're the most hipster-y states and tend to like shitty things just to seem cool.
>>
>>67203647
Is the kansas city in kansas, or kansas city in missouri?

>>
>>67186516
Well the thing is with South Carolina and North Carolina, is that there still is an older generation that are Redskoons(for NC) and Dirty Birds fans and Skoons(for SC). North Carolina has a ton of northern transplants so you see all the fatass annoying Stoolers and Failadelphia fans too. But SC residents are more likely to be another team fan rather than the Panthers. Maybe it has changed this year with all the attention and winning streak. But I will never fullu know cause SC is shitty and I live 10 mins from Bank of America Stadium. So a majority of the shit I see is Panthers related.
>>
>>67212613
South Carolina largely doesn't give a fuck about the NFL
College baseball is probably the second biggest sport here
