I have no problem with Hendricks, he's pretty solid. Lackey seems too spotty to trust for me. Cubs gotta try to get dat sonny grey at the deadline doe

So what do you guys think? Was Castro for Warren a good trade?
>>67135038
yeah
too bad he didnt get traded a year or two ago and we might have been able to end up with one of the mets pitchers
LOL he sounded like Haray for a sec there
Eisen did a respectable stretch
>>67134625
If that's the case, Shaw should have just boarded him instead of calling the ref a faggot. Same one game suspension and but he'd have taken out their star player.
Baez producing again.
Will he steal though?
holy shit hes safe
>>67135038
considering the goal of the trade was to lighten the salary of the cubs to free up some money for zobrist lackey and heyward, by trading the biggest contract of the cubs shortstop platoon, i'd say it accomplished what it set out to do
warren = 1.7m
ryan = 1m
castro = 7m
Major umpball if this is upheld.
>>67135153
He might be, but they won't overturn it
>>67135161
Does the salary really matter in baseball because there isn't a cap? It boils more on how much you want to invest on your team.
If there was a cap, dumping Castro would be a do brainer.
Umpball no way was he conclusively safe
Holy. Shit.
Safe
>>67135173

OVERTURNED
THE SYSTEM WORKS
>>67135207
Apparently.
Looked like he got him on the left hand a little bit to me it was close enough I don't think it was over tunable plus the glove was on his leg when he changed from hand to foot and it looked like there was a little gap were neither were on so I don't think you can say 100% sure he was safe
t. Brewers fan
>>67135257
It looked like that from the behind angle, but from the side it's clear as day that he missed the hand
>>67135190
no cap, but no reason to flush money down the toilet
castro & russell are both everyday shortstops
plus you have baez & bryant to play everyday at 2nd & 3rd
then you get zobrist to add some experience to the roster and to play second everyday
castro was expendable - traded as a salary dump that brought some bullpen depth
would have been great to get more value out of him, but when top tier free agents are taking less money to play for you.... its acceptable
>>67135257
Laces of the glove touching the runner don't count as a tag anymore. So even if it looked like the glove was touching Beaz, it was just laces of it so it wouldn't be counted as an out.
>>67135269
Maybe but it has to be conclusive evidence It didn't seem that clear to me but I guess I have a bias as do you guys as well
If they put a dome over Wrigley, how many more homeruns that have been fucked over by the wind would the cubs get?
NOBODY BEATS THE RIZZ, NOT EVEN THE SHIFT
brewers looking like little leaguers with down syndrome out there
Rizzo with the RBI and another runner on 3rd.
Rizzo is on fire - his avg sucks, but he keep coming thru
>>67135332
opposite effect when the wind is blowing out
would be interesting to know number of game days the wind is both blowing in/out by at least 10mph
is baez really better defensively at third than bryant?
>>67135407
True, the Cubs would have probably only have gotten 3 homeruns if the wind wasn't with them for the Cardinals playoff game where they got 3.
>Strope
Time to worry.
>>67135435
No, but him at 3rd and Bryant in left is better than having Solerror out there
>>67135435
no, but Bryant is better than Soler in left
>>67135435
baez is more athletic
obviously doesnt have much experience there at this level
but baez at 3rd/bryant at lf
is a net gain over bryant at 3rd/soler at lf
is old strop back
>>67135521
Can't we just demote him to the minors?
Or better yet, just cut him?

For fuck sake, you have ONE JOB as a reliever.
Why can't they just dump Strope?
Why the fuck is Joe leaving Strop in there?
Does he have that little confidence in everyone else?
Maybe if strop would straighten his fucking hat then he could pitch decently
>>67135611
Joe has blind faith that Strop won't fuck it up. It's sorely misguided.
They should make it a rule that if you blow 3 or more saves, you are automatically demoted to the minors. Shit, I'm sure someone in the minors could pitch better than Strop.
>>67135611

>>67135649
Don't get me wrong, I love Strop. But he didn't have it tonight.
>Strope pitches
>Takes nearly 30 pitches, shits the bed multiple times, gives up multiple walks, and a hit to let two score and can only get 2 outs.
>Wood pitches
>Only takes 2 pitches to get a fly out
Is there a reason the Cubs still have Strope? If you can't pitch a single inning as a reliever, you're doing something wrong.
>>67135774
strop>>>>wood
>>67135793

>>67135895
>these guys with face protectors better than anyone on the brews
>>67135895
>He says while one of his players wears a bodysuit
>>67135833
If it's a starter who has to go at least half the game. yeah, I won't expect them to mow down batters like Arrieta. However, if your job is to pitch a single inning, I expect you to make it through 3 or 4 batters and not give up a run unless it's an errant home run. But Strope's performance was abysmal in every way.
>>67135965

Just trade lucroy already...
>>67136055
Hence why I said they get a limit of 3.
1 time they get shelled is just a game. 2 times is bad luck. 3 times means they're incompetent and need to be gone.
I'm surprised starters who pitch a good 8 innings, but then have the bullpen blow it and force the starter to take a lose doesn't punch them out.
