Football is a thousand times more easy to watch, offense goes on side and defense tries to stop them. Announcers will typically try to explain things when shit hits the fan, and football becomes really fun when the quarterback takes a sack and an actual scrum happens.
Baseball is a lot more slow, you won't know what a RBI, R, K, or any other thing being said means and you'll have to just start learning. There was nothing bigger than the NBA on NBC which began to challenge the NFL directly for Sunday viewing. For about ten years there was a 3 way battle with the NBA gaining a slight edge.
