Let's say we have a situation where the infield fly rule is active, and there is a pop up right down the foul line and it is tough to tell if it will be fair or foul.
Can the ump say "infield fly unless it drops foul" or does he have to make a good judgement? If he calls "infield fly, batter's out" and it drops foul, the batter was unfairly called out. If he fails to call it thinking it's foul, and it drops fair, it's an easy double play.
Or do they just call him out and no one cares but me?
