What's the greatest moment in soccer history?
>>66944695
Soccer? What's soccer?
I assume from the picture that you meant to say football?
Probably when it was invented
Man Utd coming back to beat Bayern in the last seconds was pretty good and got to up there with the best moments.
Also Liverpool coming back from 3 down to trounce Milan was also a great final.
7-1

Obviously each country is going to say their moment of glory, for me, Iniesta scoring in the WC final, but probably everyone enjoyed 7-1.
pick one
TORRES

The aguero goal vs. qpr is up there
Greece winning Euro 2004

Geoff Hurst 1966
Your pic is the most shocking moment though
My favourite ones in the last few years have been AGUEROOOOO, Gerrard's slip and that Torres goal for Chelsea vs Barca. I don't watch much apart from the English clubs.
If you forget context and just take it for what it is, Ibrahimovic's fourth against England that time was pretty special.

Utd gloryhunter detected.
Sorry to break it to you but nobody gives a shit about the 99 final apart from Utd fans m8.
As a non-biased scouser I have to say the Gerrard slip and Istanbul are both up there.
Ronaldo's redemption in 2002 doesn't get much meme action these days but is was a GOAT moment imo. Going from being the best player in the world with all hopes riding on you to total MIA disaster with the 98 final followed by career ending injuries only to fight your way back to BTFO the entire World Cup with the golden boot and the trophy was the greatest single achievement in the sport's history imo.
>>66950759
Denmark in Euro 92 was probably more shocking than that, though. Denmark hadn't even qualified; they only got in because Yugoslavia had to drop out due to all of muh war and muh genocide.
Speaking of people picking their own teams, Yeovil were in the League One playoffs eight years ago, and were up against Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals. Former non-league part-timers Yeovil lost 2-0 at home to the former European Cup winners, and then had to travel to Nottingham for the second leg. Based Yeovil then went 2-0 down, but they then scored five goals, away from home, and got to go to Wembley for the playoff final (which they lost to Blackpool, but shhhh).
AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
and it's not even close
Aguero's goal doesn't even come close to Istanbul or 7-1.

a moment no one outside of england, /sp/ or reddit remembers or was even aware of.
Fact: If you listed a moment involving a club as opposed to a national team you're a child. International football may have waned these days but in history it's by far the bigger one.
And what's the biggest international form of football? The World Cup.
At that point it comes down to what was the biggest World Cup moment. For me it comes down to three:
>Brazil 1970 Carlos Alberto Goal: Best goal from the best international team ever
>Maradona against England - both goals: Best individual performance ever in the World Cup
>Brazil 1-7 Germany: Biggest shock ever
I'm going with Maradona.

I know you're trolling but for the idiots that think you're serious... The Utd side that won in 1999 was a very good side and shouldn't have needed to come back to win. The Liverpool side that won in 2005 has no fucking business being in the final much less winning it. They were up against a Milan side of GOATs from top to bottom. Maldini, Kaka, Pirlo, Schevchenko, Crespo, Cafu et al all lost to a side that came back form 3-0 down with Djimi fucking Traore at left back. Just let that sink in for a moment.

United, a team full of players from their youth academy, scored two injury time winners to beat Bayern Munich to secure a treble (at the time the first in modern footballing history). Not just a champions league - A TREBLE. To this day, still the greatest footballing achievement in English club history.
Liverpool meanwhile relied on a dive to draw a game and then won a roll of the dice game based on luck. Brilliant.
And like I said, I'm a giant Liverpool fan so not biased.
>>66951560
this is because:
>win Champions League?
>brag about it until someone wins it next season
VS
>win the World Cup
>anointed World fucki gg Champs for the next four seasons
>>66944695
To me, the Sergio Ramos goal in the 93' to "win" the 10th champions league against At. Madrid.
And of course the Iniesta Goal in the world cup.
But I'm spanish and Real Madrid supporter so... It's different for every person I guess.
>>66951694
Oh you're actually serious. I... I can't help you.
>>66951560
I'm pretty sure the 1950 Maracanaco was the biggest shock ever. You could buy "Brazil: World Champions!" T-shirts outside the stadium before it even started, and then they got BTFO by the tiny, 4 million-strong nation of Uruguay.
Also,
>Hungary not winning in 1954
>>66951694
The reason Istanbul shit on everything is precisely because it WASN'T part of a treble or anything like that. The Liverpool side in question were not on some march towards multiple trophies with excellent form and pedigree. It was pure 100% filtered lightning in a bottle. Other teams won league, cup trebles and have done since 1999. Nothing like Istanbul will ever happen again in our lifetime.
>Millions of people all over the world watched the GOAT Gary Lineker poo himself in the middle of a match
>>66951883
>Jose Mourinho won a Champions League with PORTO
02 World Cup with Ronaldo coming back from a disastrous previous final
04 Porto who had won the EL the previous year going on to win the CL with a team that had you asking literally who?
05 Liverpool
and Inters treble imo
>>66951939
Yes, beating the mighty Monaco in the final in what was the greatest run in knockout European football history against such greats as Deportivo La Coruña and Lyon wurely bests the GOAT final underdog victory of Liverpool lead by a local lad against a team of legendary Champions League all stars.

99 was more of a karma towards Bayern playing timewaster after Basler goal.
Instanbul was quite literally David-Goliath match bending laws of logic left and right with shaky team who couldn't win CL spot in Prem GOATing it up in 45 mins against best XXI c. Milan (Kaka and Pirlo at their prime ffs) and with fucking Dudek, who had Green-at-WC-tier fuckups regularly somehow defending majority of penalties, not to mention bombardment on his goal from Milan in Extra-time.
Not to mention that CL is still the only reason Gerrard stayed in LFC instead of going to Chelsea and that, my friends, lead to legendary slip.
Instanbul > 99
