Horry won two before Mamba was in the league, MJ won 4 before. Duncan had pop and a rotating crop of legends like Parker and Manu in the middle The Admiral and Avery Johnson… And at the end he had Kawhi, Wingstop and depth.

First of all, Jordan.

Second of all, Kobe won four on Shaq's back and knew it. So he got the boy traded, then only won two while he was (1) the only star in town, and (2) had the entire bankroll of a large market behind him. In other words, the same shit Lebron has right now, and Lebron has a couple years left in the tank.

Kobe being clutch is a literal myth. It has no basis in reality. He's statistically one of the worst shooters in close games.
>>
>>66850027
Is there a shot chart for this? Would be interesting to look at
>>
>>66832261
>>66850027

The league average % under 30 seconds is 21% Kobe is still above average.

LeBron under 30 seconds in his career is closer to 10%, this picture is old. Also 24 seconds, in final 5 secs his % is woeful.
>>
>>66832300
Still missed more than made.
>>
I just don't think the NBA wanted Kobe's lasting memory to be this Lakers season. It really was one of the worst seasons a former star player has ever had. Then you had the added Lakers drama. He really should have retired a few years ago when winning was no longer important to him, but the Lakers gave him all that money for some reason. So I guess no one is going to turn that down.
>>
>>66854591
He did better than Charles after his achilles tear at least. Charles played one game, got a dunk, and then walked off court.
>>
>>66850027
He might have been shit based on that statistic pie you cut out but remember all the 4th quarters he single handedly won games for his team's.
>>
>>66837126
>rotating crop of legends

Lol I love how people discounted the Spurs entire supporting cast Duncan's entire career but love calling them "legends" to defend Kobr.

Robinson was relevant for one championship, he was a marginal role player in 2003. Parker and Ginobili were just supporting players in 2003 and 2005. Avery Johnson, are you kidding me? Kawhi was just a good player in 2014 when they won. Any of Duncan, Kawhi or Diaw could have won finals MVP desu considering Kawhi was invisible for half the series but had his best games last (memory bias).

Point is Duncan was by an enormous amount the best player on every championship team except 14, and even then he was still super useful at age 37. Kobr wasn't even the best player on his team for 3/5ths of his titles, and wasn't the most important player for another.
>>
>>66854648
I'd kind of prefer that over a whole season of Kobe dragging his body out there, playing poorly and the Lakers losing a historic amount of games in the process. Until this final game it was tough to watch.

nah. ESPN has brainwashed people into thinking that lebron's style of play is the correct way to play. notice how kobe is 5-2 in the finals, and lebron is 2-4 (probably 2-5 after this year). now why is that? because kobe (and jordan) knew when to take the game over. that's what made them better than "muh advanced stats" lebron. he tries too hard to fill up a stat sheet. kobe was trying too hard to win the games, which he did. in a more competitive conference, no less
>>
>>66854749

so Iguodala was the best Warrior in 2015? lmao
>>
>>66854852
>notice how kobe is 5-2 in the finals, and lebron is 2-4 (probably 2-5 after this year). now why is that?

Because Lebron never played with the most unstoppable big man in the last 50 years in his prime who single-handedly warped entire teams' defenses. Derek Fisher has 5 rings too.
>>
>>66854780
Some stats they were better off without Kobe, but they were still bad.

>>
>>66854852
Kobe never won a playoff series without Shaq and Gasol. Lebron dragged so many bad Cavs teams through the playoffs without any real chance of winning for years. Though Lebron doesn't have that excuse anymore. Since going to the Heat and back to the Cavs he has all star level players he is playing with now.
>>
you now realize kobe set a record for most missed career shots.

>>66826347

>>
He's overrated because he made sure he was the only star in LA. He drove Shaq away who was arguably the best center in the league at the time, and star players dont want to go there cause they know hes an asshole. He just belittles his teammates and in a team sport just killed that franchise and left it in pieces.

In the fucking east though.

The only reasonably hard teams I can remember him facing was the Celtics in the mid-late 2000s, that one or two year span where the Bulls/Pacers were competitive and that's about it.
>>
>>66826347
what percentage did he shoot if you only include his first 6-7 years, or whatever his prime period was? I remember when he started, he was brilliant. Then...rapist; then garbage.
>>
>>66855208
Pacers weren't championship level, but they were built to grind and physically destroy teams like Chicago. In no way were they an easy exit that demonstrates the "inferiority" of the East.
>>
>>66855208
>In the fucking east though.
This. I love how all those "lelbron would make any team contenders" posts conveniently gloss over the fact that he was playing in the much worse conference through out his career.

I'd love to see how much of a contender those Cavs really were by having them go against Tim Duncan and Pop. Oh wait, we actually saw that.

So the other best team in the league?

I don't see how that's a slight against the East. You act like LeBron wouldn't make quick work of the Grizz, Clips, Rockets, etc.

If the Spurs and Cavs switched conferences would it still be easy for LeBron to carry his team to the finals?

Yes.
>>
>>66855153
Curry won GS games 1 and 5 in the Finals. Curry played REALLY bad in game 2, and in games 4 and 6 him and Iggy had comparable stats. It's just all people could talk about in that finals was how great Lebron was playing even without Love and Irving. It really overshadowed everything Curry did and I think giving the award to Iggy (who did play well especially when they started him) was in a way giving credit to Lebron's performance in that finals a bit.
>>
>>66855402
If you swap the Spurs and the Cavs the late 00s West would still have the Lakers, the Mavs and the Suns which were all better than any team Lebron faced in the East other than those Celtics
>>
>>66826347
>Why does E$PN hype this guy again?

>>
>>66855456

It definitely was. Dude almost could have pulled a Jerry West and won it himself if Iggy didn't fill up the cup during key moments.
>>
What causes athletes to play better under pressure or in clutch situations? I'm thinking of tom Brady here but there has to be numbers on this shit.
>>
>>66855208
He couldn't win one playoff series without them though. He didn't need to take the Lakers to the finals, but just win one series by putting them on his back.
>>
>>66855481
I meant heat or king returns era LeBron teams. His current finals streak.

Bron was lucky to make the finals when he was young. Really good. But lucky.
>>
>>66855537
Fair enough then. Swap them with Spurs and they'd still make the Finals, they'd just have to work harder for it.
>>
>>66855508
>What causes athletes to play better under pressure or in clutch situations?
Its less the great players being clutch, and more everyone else crumbling which gives the illusion.

Great players simply stay great no matter what. That is what makes them fearsome.
>>
>>66855508
What does that have to do with a Kobe discussion? Please don't tell me there are still people out there who believe the "Kobe is clutch" myth.
>>
>>66855648
Nothing to do with this guy, just what makes people play better when they are under pressure? Hate Brady all you want but under pressure he plays like he's on a mission.
>>
>>66855250
> you in charge of reading comprehension
>>
>>66855456
Well the Warriors strategy was make Lebron beat them. Pretty much everyone else played like shit on the Cavs. Both teams knew it was all on Lebron since Kyrie and Love were out. All Iggy had to do was keep Lebron from winning the game. I mean he averaged like 35 FG attempts a game.
>>
Cavs were better in the finals without irving and love, I don't think they'll get past the ECF
>>
>>66834890
Which is meaningless. Kobe came into the league 7 years before LeBron did. If he would have to miss every FGA for the next 3 years, he'd have to miss half (meaning he'd shoot 50%) for the next 6.

Kobe's missed the most shots ever, but 80% of that is just him coming out of high school and having more mileage than any non-big man in NBA history. The other 20% is his suspect shot selection, but he didn't shoot poorly when he was healthy. He shot between 45-50%.
>>
>>66836698
