Is it the greatest "last game" in Sports history?
>>
Yes from the greatest to ever lace em up
>>
I remember Derek Jeter having a pretty good one
>>
In a regular season, yes.

Playoffs?

>Peyton Manning
>Ray Borque

etc,

But desu it's my personal favorite last game because Kobe is based.
>>
>>66808853
that would be michael jordan
>>
Just as planned. Stern could never get these ratings.
>>
Steph Curry hasn't retired tho
>>
>>66808853
Jordan played?
>>
>>66808868
I know. But Kobe is my greatest ever. I'm 24. Not lucky enough to witness mj. You know bro?

Nah, pretty meaningless. No team in the NBA would have tried to shut him down.

I mean Peyton literally won the Super Bowl in his last game

Richie McCaw

13 pts 17 boards that is

>>66808918
Old fag here. From someone that witnessed both and is a dye in the whool Laker fan, I'd have to give to MJ with Kobe a close second behind.

tfw you will never witness the furious competitive edge by both Kobe and Jordan because today's players are too entangled with social media and worried about what other people think about them.

that was easily one of the most entertaining superbowl games of all time, let alone an amazing game for Lewis which resulted in a victory
>>
>>66809029
>Not even close to 60

That's literally an average game for Deandre Jordan. How many players can score 60?
>>
>>66809072
that's complete bullshit, you just witnessed two teams take the entire regular season as serious as the playoffs from Game One. Get off your high horse.
>>
>>66809157
On 50 shots? I'd say most
>>
>>66809116
The Jazz were in the playoff picture until literally 15 minutes before tip off

Warriors fans just butthurt they won 73 and no one gives a shit

Michael Jordan if he hadn't ruined it with that spell at Wizards
>>

Well I guess it was the Warriors last game of the regular season for now.
>>
>>66808807
Yup scoring 60 points on 50 shots in a meaningless game which might end up costing your team their lottery pick. Definitely the greatest.

MJ's last game as a Bull. Twice retired.

Michael Strahan won the SB.
Jerome Bettis the same.
David Robinson retired a champion.

Nah Bourque had the GOAT last game
>>
Anyone who considers Jordan's last game as anything more than a glorified globetrotters gig is retarded

His last game was game 6 against the jazz, and his last action was hitting the game winning shot after willing his team, almost single handedly, to victory in the 4th quarter
>>
>>66809111
Fucking this.
>>
>>66808807
How much did he dope himself for this last game? His eyes looked really dark, almost like on a overdose

>>
>>66811776
Doesn't matter. As a Peyton fan, will always remember his last championshit game where he played horrible and got bailed out by his defense, much like the season.

People won't speak of (most won't remember when the historic aspect of it matters) the Lakers bad season. They'll remember the Black Mambaaaaaa, scored 60 in a win as his last game.
>>
>>66809111
Nah man gotta be Carter

>everyone doubted him
>"he's too old"
>does okay in the lead up but is evidently past his prime

>only quarter the lakers get smashed was when kobr was on the bench
dunno why people are all "muh 50 shots", he was efficient with it today and they looked a lot better when he had the ball than anyone else
>>
>>66811883
Carter didn't retire and still schools the cumsaders damn near single handily at racing metro
>>
>>66811846
I only remember Kareem's last game because Detroit rekt LA for their first championship lol.
>>

Right?

reminder that if the ABs new 10 shits the bed, they will use carter.
>>
>>66811961
that's one of the few World Cup moments I actually remember
>>
>>66811985
If Jordan had called it fucking quits like he should have with that last Jazz game in 98, instead we got a handful of seasons of Wizzullets that nobody wanted.

Probably not the GOAT last game among all sports, but ranks up there in NBA history.
>>
>>66812006
No but like there are numerous examples in dozens of sports of players bowing out with a world cup or a league trophy or a legendary performance in a final. You can't seriously say a game in which he was handed the ball repeatedly for no reason other than it being his last game is greater than those.
>>
>>66811990
reminder that Carter literally wasn't even the first choice 10 last year until Cruden did us all a favour and killed himself
>>
>>66812013
Nor am I saying that, but it's pretty amazing for an old guy to even get 60 points at his age in that sport, doesn't happen every single day.
>>
>>66809185
Are you stupid? Most guards can't make 20 shots on 44% let alone 50. Learn basketball.
>>
Are people really this ignorant about basketball? I know big numbers confuse you but he ended 22/50, 44%. That's considered good for a guard. That's higher than James Harden's season average. Ended with +7, went 5/5 down the stretch to bring them back and take the lead. A great performance, period.
>>
>>66808807
Maybe if he'd actually won something in the last game then yes it would have been great.
>>
>>66812056
They can when there is little to no defense played against them.
>>
>>66812217
it happens Canabro, most people have trouble fathoming numbers beyond 7 digits
>>
> Americans only know athletes from their domestic sports
>>
>>66812217
You had me until you mentioned Harden
>>
>>66812543
So?
>>
>>66812548
Why not mention Harden? He's currently the best SG in the league and by far and away the best offensive SG in the league. Comparing Kobe's numbers to Harden's makes perfect sense
>>
>>66808807
>Is it the greatest "last game" in Sports history?

A regular season game that was meaningless?

Can Kobe fans just go the fuck away? He was the only guy that even shot for his team. Do you think Utah even gave a shit?
>>
>>66811846
>As a Peyton fan, will always remember his last championshit game where he played horrible and got bailed out by his defense, much like the season.

No..it won't. Just like that doesn't matter 5 years after the fact. Than again most 18 years don't know how things are remembered.
>>
>>66812217

It may as well been a preseason game. Utah missed the playoffs a couple games ago. They gave no shits about this game.

Yeah Kobe is great except his bloated contract made the lakers a lottery team the past couple season. Legend.
>>
>>66812581
I think generally great players in any sport tend not to have a last great game in their last game at a level that Kobe did ... more often than not, they throw 3 interceptions, give up 3 goals, have 3 different guys tag HRs on 'em, shit like that, or they blow out a knee or an ankle and limp off and whatnot.

I know I've watched sports a long fucking time, and I'm probably going to remember both the 73 wins by GS and the 60 pts by Kobe in his last game until I peace out, so yeah.
>>
Kobe is a great player and all but he should have retired 2-3 seasons ago, instead of statpadding injured as fuck for those miserable seasons, also taking 50 shots is classic Kobe, so yeah, nothing special.
>>
>>66812632

>stat padding
>implying it wasn't solely for bank padding
>>
>>66812632
he had 40 million reasons to keep playing
>>
>>66812647
I'm sure he could have gotten some assistant coaching role or something had he wanted it, but I guess he really wanted them stats.
>>
>>66809072

Yep... It's over.

>>66809170

>two teams

One team

That's cute that you thought the Spurs were trying

>>66810176

It'll be considered a pretty big failure. Everyone will be saying they shouldn't have gone for the record, that they burnt themselves out. In reality, they'll have just lost to a better team.
