American refs are fucking trash. I played soccer for 18 years and got only a handful of competent ones. Literally all you have to do to qualify is take a weekend course and pass a test. It's a hobby for middle aged men who have no clue what soccer is.

There was an incident not long ago beween England and Norway's women players, England had a penalty and some England players ran into the box before the penalty kick was taken. the referee accidentally gave Norway a free kick and the game ended as it was in extra time, the rules are that if a penalty kick is encroached, you have to retake the penalty.
They had to go back and restart the game at the penalty kick in the 96th minute like a week after the incident happened with a different referee kek.
