It's because NT competitions are just played once every two years in the civilised football world unlike Asia/Concacaf/Africa and pre-modern Southamerica & Europe
Great generations in those places give you trophies just because you have to play against the regular generation of Panama or Cape Verde. Nowadays you need not only to have a superlative golden generation, but a big organizational infrastructure. They need to be great cooperative team too, which helps a lot if they are in big european team (which is not the arab team of the season). On top of that you need the luck to streak seven/six matches in a row, over the "good" generations of other countries (generated mostly by the media and arab clubs) and without having in mind bans, injures, underperforming, clubs interest, etc.
tl;dr great generations were never charcterized for having great achievements at international levels, except for completely dominated periods.
